Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi Bob, yep original ETA from May order was August/Sept. Then as September arrived it got revised out to Jan/Feb. But at least car is now on its way, Talisman arrived in Auckland today and will head off to Bris, Pt Kembla and then Melbourne. Car is due for delivery in Adelaide in the 2nd week of Jan..... I'll believe it when I see it!, cheers Brig

Currently has only 6000km on the clock. On December 12th, it went back in to have a new key recognition and starting protocol module fitted - end result completely dead Jeep. Parts required to "hopefully" get it going again, are not due in NZ until 10th Jan 2012 leaving us without a caravan tug for our planned Christmas break. I am with the help of my lawyer attempting to get my money back when I will seriously reconsider my options.

Having previously owned a new 2005 WH Limited CRD and then a 2008 WH Overland CRD, I am a reasonably committed and loyal Jeep owner. However, at this stage a V6 TD VW Touareg is starting to look like a more reliable option.

New Zealand source all their Jeep stock from Jeep Australia and is distributed here by Sime Darby, a luxury brand importer / distributor.

I have currently been given a 2003 BMW X5 3.0 petrol with 130000km as a temporary loan vehicle, and it is not rated to tow the van. It is also the thirstiest vehicle I have ever driven. Daily use around 17 - 18 lt / 100km.

My main frustration is that Chrysler / Jeep do not have a stock of vital spare parts available. 47 days off the road out of 120 days ownewership is unacceptable.

Cheers Chris
Nut from what you have described some of the caravaners have the same issue with the CRD and have had the battery TSB done to fix it.
Over on the caravaners forum.
hope you get it fixed soon.

Lemon laws, not sure if they apply in AUS or NZ.

Gday Chris...
i have followed your issues and comments on the other Aus forum and you definitely have my sympathy - by my take a high proportion is competency related with the dealer - not sure what you can influence in that regard though.

Our new vehicle was close to being a V6 CRD Touareg - lovely vehicle.....but in doing research I found significant dissatisfaction with the tow bar and wiring for the 2011 models.. The current model has a tow bar with a a vertical receiver and ball download has been reduced it seems.
If you haven't already - check out the clubtouareg forum in the Aus and NZ section and you will find a stack of to and fro regarding the tow bar and wiring compatibility.

In the end we bit the bullet and made a decision for a WK2 ....I hope things work out well for you.

That's really disappointing. I don't care, cos I just landed in Perth (posting from my Qantas a330 ATM lol) but yeh, hopefully won't be too long now.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just took delivery yesterday of our CRD Laredo in BRILLIANT BLACK CRYSTAL PEARL.

Very happy with the colour since we didn't get to see it in the flesh when we ordered it.

Had a slight problem on our 1st drive, made a couple of stops at the shops and on the 3rd stop car wouldn't run when re-started cut out after 2 seconds. Turned out to be a flat battery and a jump start got us going again, 1st time I've had that with a new car considering the 1st leg of the drive was 200km so battery should have been well charged. I did have the ignition on for about 45min without the engine running at the 1st stop.

Also was disappointed to find there is no reversing camera even though the Jeep website shows one being standard on the Laredo, will take this up with the dealer next year.

1st time Jeep owner, looking forward to clocking up some km's

Re: WK2 DownUnder

The reversing camera is a dealer install. They most likely didn't get time to install it. Tintman, do you know which ship your car came in on?
