Hi Beerenton, Can I ask you when you placed your order? I wonder if Jeep Aus wait until they have sufficient orders before placing them on the factory thus the long wait to April?

PS, you didn't work for Electrolux at Beverely did you?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I dont think it is a matter of exactly when the Order was placed, but when the D1 is set.
D1 means "scheduled" for assembly. I am led to believe that means the date that has been set aside for that vehicle to be sent down the production line.
Assuming that they are setup in the sequence that the Order was placed, you would think that the only change to that sequence, would be the non availability of parts or colours, which may mean that they would be heldup until the items became available. Having said that, one would think that D1's are allocated when they know that everything is in place. Most D1's are within 2 weeks prior to assembly, so it is pure guesswork on my part as to what actually occurs, and why there are significant delays in the whole process.
I know Beerenton had a paint colour change, which probably accounts for the long wait he has had to endure. However, that does not explain why his car went into D1 status after mine, yet got assembled earlier.
Pointless asking a Oz dealer, because I am surprised they even could tell the difference between a Wrangler and a Grand Cherokee, let alone know anything about the production process. Jeep Oz is even worse in their knowledge.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi Glenn, I put $1k deposit down just before Christmas, around the 22nd. They then changed my colour on 20 January. It's all in my signature cheers.

Red is a mighty fine colour (of course I'm biased)

Re: WK2 DownUnder

On a slightly different subject, how did you all go with insurance quotes. My insurer has just quoted me $987 up to 10,000kms or $1102 for unlimited kms.

I just got a quote from NRMA and it was $582 with $2000 excess and free windscreen with agreed value of $73000 but I'm an old bugger. You need to shop around
