I wonder where Prixcars will place the compliance plate on a flatpack. With my luck, I bet they find grass seeds in the pack as well then want to fumigate the Allen keys..

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi all

I've been searching all morning for the link to the doc with the list of differences between the 2011 and 2012 model types. I saw it only a couple of days ago and all my searching in the forums have been to no avail. If anyone has a link they could post i'd be greatly appreciative.

I've got the option to purchase a 2011 Limited, and want to know the differences between it and the 2012 so i can decide whether the discount is worth it.

Cheers

Thanks Glenn, that's what i was looking for.

So from looking at this, and putting aside depreciation, resale, etc and just looking at the features of the 2011 and 2012 limited is it fair to say that there's not much difference between the 2 at all? Would like to know people's thoughts.

Don't get me started on the missing tow hooks!

The only other mechanical difference of note is the power steering goes from fully hydraulic to an electrically assisted hydraulic system saving a very small amount of fuel.

You might also need a battery upgrade from an 800cca to 900cca.

Depending upon build date There are also some TSB's that might need to be applied to a 2011 that have been fixed in the 2012 models - of note is the steering shaft replacement for a clunk when coming to a stop. flashing the radio for updates etc. I think there is a full list of TSB's on the
HTML Code:
www.wk2jeeps.com
site.

For mine i'd get the 2012 (even without the tow hooks)

Depends which engine option he is looking at.
HEMI=mechanical power steering, and standard battery.
Pentistar=Mechanical power steering early 2011 think pre feb 2011, then electric pump, standard battery
VM=power steering?, needs bigger battery. but all diesels are 2012 (I think Enforcer you know)

Curiously, my buildsheet for my Laredo (still on a boat - Jan 2012 build) shows it having a 800amp battery. I wonder whether the firmware fix for the keyless entry negated the need to upgrade the batteries(?)

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I believe I still have an 800 amp battery, no problems at this stage, took delivery late December, so maybe you are right. I keep my keys away from the car just in case.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Can I ask a dumb question - the build sheet shows the car as having "Rear load levelling suspension". (other being the source of the mysterious knocking that seems to plague some WK2s), what is this feature and how does it work?
