The color I ordered was White Gold.
Regarding colors not available, Jeep Australia has posted on their Facebook site that "the effected Australian colours are Brilliant Black, Blackberry Pearl and Inferno Red, all of which contained the ‘xirallic’ ingredient effected by the Japan disaster."

Got a VIN for my Limited now: 1J4R25GG3BC710684
I asked my dealer today for a VIN and he told me Chrysler don't issue them until they are on a boat.

I told him others in Oz have them, he was quite, then said he will look into it.

Thanks Milous for your help.

I have noticed several differences between the USA and Oz specs.
I know mainly the Overland differences.

We get front parking sensors
We get HID headlights
You get all the options on the Oz Overland. Only options are Metalic paint, Rear DVD (but you lose 1/2 the sunroof) and the trail pack (18" and bash plates).
No LED's in the mirrors for indicators, instead we get a guard mounted light
Brown wood in the Overland even though the brochure shows it should be grey.
We get the 731 RHP audio system with Nav and uconnect
We only have the Hemi and CRD as motor choices in the Overland
Kumho tyres on the 20" wheels
Rear foglight
Different rear bar that does not have the tow hitch built in
No 110/240v power in the rear on DVD optioned cars
No saddle trim option (thanks but no thanks)

Thats about all I can think of, but add to the list if you find anything.

hmm, whats with the brown wood, is this to say that our overlands on order won't have black wood??

I wish we had the new saddle trim option. Milous, will our new Overlands be 2012 models? considering orders were put in last week, and delivery is expected late July?

oh ok, they are the "clearance lights" that are designed to be on when the lights are on to give a better side visability. They are also in the tail lights as well. I wonder why we do not have them as I only really see them in some Volvo models. I personally would like them and will look if there is a globe socket or wiring for them.

#58 ·
They are selling trim kits on Ebay for the WK2's with all sorts of different choices.
I would go for carbon fibre, but the wood wheel would make it look weird

Milous great job.
Thank You for helping Oz.

After Chrysler contacted my dealer I got this number E5673825.
I was busy when he called, but think D1 was mentioned.
The Chrysler rep was with him when he called.

I'm in the process of selling my 2006 WH privately, then I plan to wait until the end of the year to order a new jeep overland. My thought process is this and am happy to have input from Milious or others.

1. Very keen on the blackberry pearl but I understand this is now not available for the 2011 model year anymore but will be for 2012 (correct?)

2. If I wait until the end of the year to order this should guarantee that I get a 2012 model (correct?)

3. it's rumored that a 6 speed transmission will be available for the HEMI, will this also be available for the crd overland?

4. Australian overlands that have being delivered thus far have the cherry wood trim as opposed to the Australian jeep brochure which states that they should have the black ash trim. After talking to my dealer he advises that this years overland will have the cherry wood however next years overland will come with the black ash. If this is the case then based on this alone I will wait another 12 months for the black ash, I think the cherry wood looks cheap and tacky in all cars

Anyway these are my thoughts and am happy for people to pass comments and confirm some of my questions

Looking forward to your replies

James

1. Blackberry has been discontinued for the remainder of the 2011 model year.

2. Order banks are closed for 2011 models. If you place an order later this year it will definitely be a 2012.

3. I am not sure about the 6-sp for the CRD, I will have to look into this.

4. I would assume that the wood trim shortage would be taken care of in the months ahead.

Just spoken with the Chrysler Rep.
No black ash for Oz Overlands this year due to shortage.
Dealers should be receiving a directive from Chrysler shortly if they have not already.

Not Happy with this, as they are giving it to the US summits.
It was one of the selling points for myself.
I hate the cherry/elm look it has been overdone in the past and i have it on my current jeep.

I think the cherry wood looks better than the black ash as it looks real, as opposed to the black ash that looks like plastic. I am sure if you really do not like it, you could get the steering wheel swapped over and get a trim kit in wood, brushed alloy or carbon fibre from eBay for $150. Just search 230621433580 item number in ebay and you will see one.
If I had a choice I would want the CF or brushed alloy, as I am not a huge fan of any wood in my car, however I think the cherry wood is fine.

just got off the phone with the dealer and got the same old dribble :( He said thay still didn't have an ETA on my Overland. When I asked about a VIN or E number and he stated that JEEP weren't issuing E numbers for Overlands and he wouldn't know the VIN until they got the heep. When I said that I knew others that had gotten theirs he said he would look into it and get back to me:rolleyes:

He also stated that yes we would be getting the Cherry Wood and he forwarded on to me the memo mentioning the shortage in supply of the Black Ash trim.

He also explained why there were Overlands appearing for sale as they too had one for use as a demo (wasn't for sale apparently). They like other dealers had placed Dummy orders right at the start for overlands as that was the only way they were going to be able get one. Said that If I wanted to swap colours that I would be able to get into that one earlier than mine but it would already have Km's on it and would have to wait until there was another one just around the corner.....which brings the question why isn't mine just around the corner.......... hmmmmm

Cheers
AJ

ALL vehicles are assigned an E number once an order is placed and accepted by the factory - otherwise Chrysler would have no way of tracking or processing the vehicle. The dealer would have the E number (VON) and the VIN number long before they received the vehicle.

Call up Mosman Jeep and see if they still have the Black Overland for sale. Then you will have it by this weekend, it is not a demo, but a 03/11 build that has not be rego'ed. It truely sucks that they are giving you the run around.

Memo from dealer below and I have no idea why it mentions the light frost beige & saddle interior's when were told they are not an option for us......................

Dear All,

I would like to clear up the confusion regarding the available woodgrain for Grand Cherokee Overland.

When the Sales Brochure was printed we were lead to believe that the available woodgrain was as follows:
- Black Olive Ash Burl Wood standard with Black leather trim
- Medium Olive Ash Wood standard with Dark frost beige/Light frost beige or New Saddle/Black trim
The Black Olive Ash was the only Wood shown in the brochure, as at the time of printing we were not going to offer the other trim colours.

Now we have encountered another factory restriction which has meant we cannot get the Black Olive Ash Wood. Rather than not receiving vehicles at all, we instructed the U.S. to build all our vehicles with Medium Olive Ash Burl Wood – sample below.

At this stage we are unsure when the Black Olive Ash Wood will be available, but will keep you informed of all future outcomes.

A revised Sales brochure is currently in development, however until this is available please forward this information onto your dealers.

"Does that also mean we Aussies can choose a light interior leather colour? I would loooooove this interior"

TJ Dark frost beige/Light frost beige or New Saddle/Black trim
Not what the rep told me today.
He said Black on Black or Beige/light frost no saddle.
I would have loved the saddle.

#78 ·
It will look like this Spentan as these are the ones already here :)

#79 ·
arrrgh, so much confusion.

So the New Saddle is definitely out? Are you guys talking to Jeep Aus? or your dealers?

either way, I'm not too fussed, as I'm getting White Gold exterior, black inside with dark tint (on the front two windows cos rest is Privacy glassed anyway), should look good.

#80 ·
i will be calling the rep in the morning to confirm. Not talking to the dealer anymore.
It is confusing.
If the official Chrysler rep does not know what is going on, what hope do we have.

so apparently mine is now due late July - very freakin unhappy.

The order (wonder if it was really ordered for the date given) was delayed. I call BS and the dealer naffed it up.

Oh well - 2 more months of saving for mods I guess.....

Unless anyone knows of a Stone White Laredo that is not under order but arriving in soon that can be snaffled by my dealer?????

Oh - and apparently there is a package to say sorry coming from Jeep, bet it isn't a Wrangler though.......

#88 ·
What colour wood trim will you get with the Saddle? Coz I don't like the idea of the saddle with the cherry wood but love the idea of the saddle with the black olive ash :D

#84 ·
I spoke to my dealer's sales manager,

apparently order has been placed but I won't be assigned a VIN or VON. ETA is late July.

According to the guy Blackberry is still a possibility, but the black wood is definitely not available. I told him to enquire about the new saddle colour, but it seems like he'll just be keen to get me whatever asap.

Either way, As much as the New Saddle looks great, White Gold + Black interior would be nice anyway.

Hi there, first post for me but i have been reading through these forums. Lost many hours sifting through all the awesome information!

I was looking around for a car february for when my lease is up this June. Came across the GC and i fell in Love. Was going to place an order when i found out in march there was going to be a problem with shortages with the QL but luckily my dealer had a laredo demo in stock with QL so i managed to place an order and snavel it up. Ended up with a Dark Charcoal, with a chrome styling pack with nudge bar which i didnt really want but it looks good. Looks like the nudge bar creates issues with the recovery points on the front so i might have to sell it.

Im getting custom leather trim installed this week. Hope it turns out ok!

Im kind of the opposite of most people here, my Jeep is ready in the next couple of days but due to my old lease not expiring until late June i have to wait another 5 weeks before i can have it. Very painful, i just want it now!

Meanwhile my warranty and rego are decreasing by the day and im going to end up with about 6 months of no warranty before the 3 year lease is up. I guess at least im lucky enough to have it for when i need it. If i had placed an order for a new build it looks like i might have been in for some dramas.
