Re: WK2 DownUnder

Got Mine!

Silver - 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 - Perth.

Ordered on Thursday 21st April.
Picked it up on Friday 24th June.
Melville Jeep - Dan Szabo, Sales Manager *He was excellent to deal with.*

We also have a 2010 Jeep Patriot Sport, also Silver.

So now, 2 silver Jeep's in the garage! Bowssss!

The 2011 Grand Cherokee is one seriously big BANG for BUCK!

My price was $47,600 Drive Away, including a few accessories I managed to bargain into the deal, - Slimline Weather Shields, Front Bonnet Protector, etc.

Silver is the perfect colour, I'd NEVER buy another black car, (Traded my 2007 VE SSV in Black), Black is SHOCKING to keep clean.

Thanks!

Yeah didn't see them on that list either but I have heard that they will be there but haven't been able to confirm it. Will try and email or ring Jeep Aust and see what I can find out.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Dealers are not really doing deals, as the demand does not meand they need to.
Being there is a waiting list for them, good luck, but you never know. I am just waiting for mine, as I do not have a VIN yet.

I spoke to the guys in Aus Jeeps and tried doing the same and got nowhere with it.
Sometimes I have my doubts about what everyone says. To short supply dealers could just about charge what they like. Unless it is one they cant move sitting on the lot. Have heard there was some with the rear DVD a dealer was having trouble moving, don't think most want to pay the $3600 premium.
I got tow, tint, paint and 2 services thrown in. No price discount.
Next couple of shipments things may change.
All the ones Chrysler presumed the customers would want will be arriving.

Hi Gabs, the V6 is suprisingly powerful, I have gassed it past other cars without any issues at all, the torque band is at about 1600 so it gets up and moves out pretty early on accelleration.

The stereo leaves a bit to be desired, and Im certainly not one of those wanna-be audiophiles, but its certainly a bit of a letdown. So dont be expecting anything amazing, sound wise, out of it.

The bluetooth setup and features are VERY good, with very accurate voice recognition features of the stereo. BUT, I feel the sound quality, again, using the bluetooth is not a strong point. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2.

The stereo has ALOT of great features, its just the sound output that lets it down.

The reverse camera is not as clear and sharp as I would expect out of a dealer fitted unit. My reverse camera I installed myself on my wifes Patriot, is far superior, and it was only an Ebay $17 purchase.

The seat warmers are amazing, you dont think you will use it, but you will!, very relaxing, try not to fall asleep!!! haha

Getting used to the keyless start and stop takes some time, I kept reaching down to the right hand column when i wanted to turn off the car. But slowly getting used to it. (Day 3!)

Its a big head turner on the road, alot of the Toyota LCruiser sheep look quite jealous. haha. Silver with dark tint, coupled with the chrome accents looks damn good!

The automatic headlights are amazing, they ignite, and then pan up and down themselves to assess the lighting conditions and oncoming vehicles, coupled with automatic hi-beam, which works VERY well.

The automatic windscreen wipers work great as well, from complete stopping, to its own speed variation dependant on the rain. They have a manual adjustment should you wish to increase the sensitivity.

The automatic rear-view mirror dimmer is a great feature, and stops the vehicles behind you having their lights glaring in the mirror. It creates a tinted 'green' look to them, and turns on and off as needed. There is a manual over-ride if you dont want it on.

My ONLY gripe at this stage, besides the audio quality, is the climate control system. I prefer to have the fresh-air vent closed due to car fumes entering the cabin from stinky old cars and trucks infront of me. It chooses to turn off and open the vent itself after an undetermined time. I have to continually press the button when i notice it is off again. Manually operating the unit instead of 'Auto', may be a solution for now. I just prefer if you press a button, it stays that way until you press it otherwise.

Thats about it for now, feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks

I tried the same dealer and didn't get far. Felt I could have but wanted it unregistered so I can ship it to qld.
There was also a new hemi overlander on carsales.com in NT for $69890 on road last week.
Discountnewcars.com.au has small discounts

I am giving it 6 months and will come back to the market unless a barging turns up.
