Re: WK2 DownUnder

seems mainstream press is aware of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee but still some dealers in Australia deny it !..
DETROIT MOTOR SHOW: Motown readies more than 50 reveals

"Fiat Chrysler, meantime, is expected to unveil all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models, as well as a new GT flagship for Dodge’s small Dart sedan."

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Dealers will never admit to a new model when they are still selling the old model.

Earlier this year I was looking at a new Nissan Patrol GU8 and was actually looking to buy. So I told him I wanted the just released GU8, and he responded to me that they are not available. I told him that a dealer on the north shore was advertising them and I'm aware of at least one member on the Patrol forum that already had one. Then he starts with the GU7 is better as it has an LSD. I respond the GU8 has a rear locker and stability/traction control. He finally gave up and gave me a price on the GU8.

By that time though I this guy is an idiot and we left and went to test drive the Jeep GC CRD .... Seduced, that was the end of the Nissan's chances.

yeah they are just after that "instant" sale and don't think about the long term.. its a numbers game.
there was so many issues with the the 3.0 diesel in the Patrols and its such a gutless engine I wouldn't bother. Good old school 4x4 but a dinosaur in every other way

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Said I would get back about going out and chatting to a dealer. I got lazy, its a 45min drive each way(and I don't have a MY11-14 GC to do the drive in, just an old 96 Cherokee) so I rang him. Here is a post that I put on another thread.

Quote:
I rang a dealer that I think is reasonably informed with regards to the MY14. He was very straight up, knew straight away about the '14, didn't try and BS me. Said he had 5 or so calls already about the '14 and this was on Monday and wa based on the news article that had broken in Australia that had the leaked launch shots.

The gist was, come see him in late March/early April when he believes that Jeep Australia will have the export models finalised. From there he said it would be the 3rd quarter of the year or early 4th quarter by the time you/they will take delivery.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Been following all the banter/pics on the main 2014 thread. Gotta say the new look just isn't doing it for me. i like the new interior, the big screen/audio/nav improvements and the 8-speed will be a winner.......but i can't get my head around the new front/rear. Can't wait until Q3/4 for a '14 CRD landed in Oz so I'm going a '13 if I can get one!! part of me says I'm crazy (resale, technology, blah) but life's too short wish me luck......Al.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Welcome allymac. I don't think you'll have to wait the long for a '14. That 8 speed and interior makes it worth the wait. If you are up for a 13 play hardball.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

that's the plan Mendo...go hard. I'll talk to some dealers about '14 deliveries but i'm figuring most will play it cool until '13 stock is gone. do you or anyone else have visibility on dates for Oz?? It's the CRD I'm after and I think i read diesel production isn't starting over there until March.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

My guess if you placed an order today, it would be a MY14 that is built. However, I think they will be telling you to expect a 6-9 month wait to delivery. I would be surprised if they are still accepting MY13 orders.
Of course they will try to fit you into a car that has already been built and on the high seas, or about to be shipped.

The Diesel engine is listed as "late availability" for the US which would mean maybe march april, which would still have you in a '14 by late June. I am not sure the late availability applies to export as well. Hopefully Milous is following this thread and might be able to clear it up.

Guys I have placed an order for an MY14 a diesel Overland this week. Dealer has advised me the dates are : build in March deliver in July.
No confirmed price or if we will get the current Overland spec or if Jeep will introduce the Summit as the new range topper.
I guess if you wait to see one in the flesh and then order it wouldnt be here untill 2014.

Would be interested to hear if you get a deal on a new MY13 diesel overland as there are not many left from what I hear. Looks like stock will dry up over next couple of months the nothing untill around July so dealers may not be doing deals due to supply/demand situation.

Becoming a bit like Apple...

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks Robo and guys - that helps. I can wait 6 months and in that time maybe the new look will grow on me. I'll have a chat to the dealer and let u know if the messaging is consistent on dates. I'm still going to have a crack at a deal on a '13 but i think you're right - supply is not our friend here.....
