I received 1 x black and 1 x silver Jeep Garage sticker in the mail about a month ago. I'd given up on getting them so it was a complete surprise considering I joined (became a financial member) mid last year.

Cheers,

Clarkey.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Who has fitted their own Brake Controller and Anderson plug?
I need to be doing this very soon, and am wondering the effort and time factor envolved.
I have all the parts, and am planning to fix the controller near the fuel release button, as it should be neater. Will use a fabricated plate to double side tape to dash panel.
Anyone? How hard are the panels to remove?

Ally I initially put ours there, but felt it was too close to my knee's, I currently have it mounted to the ash tray (that goes in one of the cup holders), but I'm going to move it in to the cubby in front of the gear shifter, as others have done !, seams like the safest and neatest place

Re: WK2 DownUnder

It ain't easy if you want it neat and following the shortest path to reduce voltage drop. I found the hardest part was firstly finding a path, threading through a lead wire then pulling through the thick cables. At the upper back right-hand corner of the battery compartment is a hole that leads through the rear door sill and exits behind the rear seat just before the wheel hump. Itís a neat path for your high current cables to the Anderson plug but it is a fiddle. I presume you have looked at the towbar threads. There is quite a bit of stuff there from John47 and myself. See Towbars in Australia .and Tow Wiring . You will probably want to connect your brake controller to the tow wiring break-out plug. For our RHD vehicles it means going diagonally across the console. The console is actually much easier to remove than it looks. I chose to mount the controller under the dash between my knees. It sounds a most unlikely spot but it works well. Iíve attached photos of my setup. I highly recommend you get a set of trim removal tools like these Installer Pry Tool Kit Trim Removal Door Clip Remover | eBay before you start.

I fitted mine in front of the gear shift, I thought I posted photos on here but can't find them, use the instructions already posted to pull your dash apart, I did it in a day. I found having it under the dash came to close to my knee while driving, with where it is now, if I close the flap you wouldn't even know it's there, the red switch is to turn it off so I can reverse down a boat ramp with out the trailer breaks coming on.
These photo's show location, dash apart and the wires coming out of the back of the enclosure I mounted it in.
I have a bunch more photo's PM me if you want them, I ran everything of relays locaed in my battery box under the seat.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks guys. I will soon start to rip the panels off and give it a go. Bob, what is the box besides your battery? It looks more than just an encased fuse.

I have a bunch of wires to run.
2 for Anderson plug (6B&S)
4 for Tekonsha (6mm Power & Earth, 5mm for brake and trailer)
2 for caravan TPMS
4 for Caravan cameras.

I probably need to run another set of 6mm for the Breakaway monitor, which supposedly is a NSW requirement.

That's a lot of wires. The box next to the battery is a Projecta 150A battery isolator (trailer kit). It comes with a bracket for this sort of mounting. No fuses required because it is effectively its own circuit breaker. It has a red 4B&S in from the +ve battery terminal fed around the front of the battery, a thin black earth under the battery to the earth post on the other side and a red 4B&S +ve out through to the back of the car. There is also a black 4B&S earth from the -ve post next to the battery running with the 4B&S red +ve to the back of the car. Both run through the hole in the back of the battery box, through the door sill (not easy, very tight), along the edge of the right rear wheel hump, into the spare wheel well and out through one of the hard plastic plugs similar to how the tow cabling exits. I tried to go the shortest possible route to avoid the need for a DC/DC converter. So far it seems successful but probably more due to the 4B&S cables. Because the Jeep has a 220A alternator, I went for the !50A battery isolator so I had to use 175A Anderson plugs. The trailer manufacturer beefed up his end accordingly.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

As suggested by "The Captain" how about a get together over a "Business Lunch" for the North West Sydney GC Owners. Give us a chance to meet and have a relax.
There are a few venues around the Hills, such as the Ettamogah, Mean Fiddler, etc.
Could be on a Sat or Sun.
Interest???

Yes, sorry. Lack of attention to detail on my part.

Although Coloundra would be nice....
