Re: WK2 DownUnder

Steve,

Not sure if you saw on the main '14 thread, but I got my Falkens installed.
Massive tyre, and huge amount of tread for an AT. Nothing like a muddy, but then I'm only running one set and the thought of running muds 24/7 is an impossibility.

The Falkens also fit in the boot fully deflated. The lid just sits up 5mm (bins made the lid sit-up an inch - but I'm going to trim them to fit).

Was this a while ago or recently Imaz? I think the 18" commodity is quite broadly known now and people know they can charge a fair whack for them. Also more new vehicles come with 20"s... increasing demand.

I'd do "special favours" for a five hundred buck set of 18"s

Ciao!

Hey Noons, that looks the goods. They are what I call a proper AT! Man I'm getting jealous of all these chunky numbers on 10 spoke wheels. I guess "I'm in it" with a second set of rims so I might as well get something maybe a level up on those, but if I wasn't going to put the 20"s on when I get home those Falkens would be on my list for sure.

How's your first impressions? Did you take the opportunity to do a faux panic stop during today's awful road conditions?

Anyway I need to get back to my research and make a decision... you guys are making me look lame.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Na didn't get a chance to tonight, but I hit the corners fairly hard on Saturday when it was wet and they handled great.

They're set to 40psi atm, but I'll be testing out lower pressures on the weekend. I've been recommended to go to about 32psi. 40 is very hard and it's not that great over bumps.
Since they are LT tyres they can easily handle the lower pressures.

Sure, but you still want to wear the tire across its width evenly... though my gut feeling is in agreement that 40psi is more than a shade too high. If you want to call me I'll explain the Michelin Rule... unfortunately I'm too lazy to type it out just now. It's worked well for me over the years.

It was for the WK2 2011-2013 style. It's been there for a while now and I'm sure it's still there. No scratches at all. All up 2k.

Oh my bad. You were clear and I misread... for some reason, probably optimism, I though they were sets for $500 each. Hence my offer to subject myself to indelible bad memories

I've actually found a better 18"s deal than that. If I don't buy 'em, I'll post about 'em.

Cheers mate,
Steve

Re: WK2 DownUnder

There's someone here who has the Rhino-Rack Pioneer Platform, but I can't for the life of me remember who it was or find their pictures. Anyone else remember? Trying to decide if that's what I want to go with but I need some pictures to look at.

Also, I seem to have lost about 50,000 rep points. Not sure why that bothers me, or what they even mean, but what the hell man?

Wasn't that YODA42? I seem to recall seeing images of him in swampland with a flat rack on the roof. There was also a member south of Darwin, who worked in the Airforce. I think he also had a rack. Cant recall his name, and cannot find any posts from him now.

Maybe it was on AJOR. I'll have a look over there later.
