Yep Castle Hill. Paige is gone unfortunately. But I have warned the two new guys about being too "open" with info on here.

As for Alex....well I think he stuffed up the pricing with the group buy and has been well and truly silenced by those above him. Try get an E number from them and see how long it takes you....

The guy from Nepean Jeep has also disappeared.... higher influence maybe?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

When my phone is on car on Bluetooth iPhone 5s and someone sends a text I can't hear the message tone. Is there something that can be done for this. Appreciate your help so far.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Currently, there are no laws prohibiting the use of Voice-Text in Australia (nor any other country that I am aware of) whilst driving.

In saying that though, there are studies currently being undertaken that suggest, that it is just as distracting for the driver however, currently it is not illegal to do so. That may change in the future.

So given that, I receive and at times send text messages through the Uconnect system whilst I am driving. We do not have the ability to send 'free-voice' texts in Australia however. That feature is available to US folk that subscribe (pay for), the Uconnect access cloud functionality.

What we do have available to us (and I utilise it) is the ability to send pre-defined messages.

They are, for example:

'I will be 'xx' minutes late'
'Stuck in traffic'
'I'll call you later'

and others. You can search for the quick reference guide on the net - Uconnect 8.4 Voice Command Quick Reference Guide for the rest of what you can use.

As far as receiving messages goes, it works (does on mine and should on yours) in the following way:

When a text is received the Uconnect screen will interrupt whatever screen you currently have displaying ie: Media or Radio screen, and display in a big outlined box that a message has been received and do you want to Listen or View it.

You can press the green phone button on your wheel and say read message and it will read it out to you. Hands on wheel and eyes on road.

As mentioned in another of your posts that I replied to, you can also say 'Inbox' to the Uconnect system (after pressing your green phone button on the wheel) and then ask it to read out your messages by line number. Hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The functionality is there and works. I have an Android phone so I cannot comment on the iPhone but reading threads from the US guys, the iPhone has no issue with the functionality either.

What is the version of your Uconnect system? You should be on 13.39.51

You can find this out by going into Settings on your Uconnect screen and then choose System Information.

I love the assumptions that you're going to reply to the message while driving.

Have you checked what the message alert volume is set to while connected to Bluetooth? I'm not an Apple-ophile, but you might find that there is a different profile activated when Bluetooth is active. It might be set up on the basis the Bluetooth device will notify you.

Hopefully this works so you know there's a message to read when you reach your destination.

Cheers,
Steve

You have to admit it's a fair assumption.

Ah, no... I most definitely don't.

Whilst using U-Connect is my preferred way, if I didn't want to use it would at least want to know that there was something requiring my attention when I arrive. My phone is set to give 3 reminders, but if the trip extends 15 minutes I'd receive no futher notifications. I'd be likely to just snatch the phone and go... missing the message until later.

I routinely had this happen when using a cheapo Bluetooth kit installed in a company runabout. It would accept pairing, but sometimes not pass through tones and calls. I missed a few urgent communications as a result.

Cheers,
Steve

The assumption was that the user would text while driving. ... not sure what you mentioned above has to so with that... any how. He should be getting a message received indicator on UCONNECT.

If you don't hear the message arrive, you may miss it. Any simpler I'd need to draw a picture.

Let's see what the poster says huh?

Cheers???

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I went on a tag along tour of the Turon River area yesterday. The Turon is located north west of Lithgow in the mountains. We had a group of around 12 cars and travelled from Capertee, wound along the Turon, criss crossing down to Sunny Corner. We travelled less than 60km but it took all day, so it was plenty rough enough. We had quite a few river crossings, some steep and long uphill and down hill sections. The tracks were very rocky - shale mainly. I was able to play with the hill decent control - it works fantastic - very impressed. Ive had my Jeep for 2 years and just become more impressed with it on the more challenging tracks I'm now tackling.
