Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just did the sums on a few simple mods I have planned (wheels and tyres, rock rails, roof rack, awning, spotlights, UHF radio), and I'm looking at upwards of $8000, and there are still other things on the 'maybe' list. Better start doing some more O/T methinks.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi,

I am in the process of setting up my JGC 2012 diesel awaiting a new van in June 2014.
Whilst looking under rear end at tow bar connections etc, noticed that the bolts holding tow bar (best bar) 3 have split lock washers and one does not.
Three other that screw into the under section do not have any lock washers at all.
Also each muffler has a small hole in each about 4mm diameter. Not sure if this is for release of condensation or what.
I would ne interested in any replies with any persons that could elaborate on there JGC if they are similar.

Thanks
Strategy

I'm finding every typical mod or setup task on these things is more involved and costs significntly more than any previous 4WD I've owned. I've decided to skip a lot of things as a result... it's mainly that I can't be bothered with the pus and pain

Cheers,
Steve

So 2 weeks ago I brought my car to Alice (500km each way) to sort out the tailgate open light on the dash. They ordered a new latch, and I drove down again yesterday to get it fitted (another 1000km). I got a call at lunchtime today to say it was done, and when I picked it up the light was still there. Now I'm waiting, possibly up to an hour, for the techs to get back from lunch and try again to find the problem, and then I have to drive the 500km home. They want to keep the car longer, but I'm not driving 500km in the dark or staying here all weekend, and they won't give me a courtesy car to go home, so I don't know what to do. I can't lock my car or the alarm goes off at random, and I'm not comfortable leaving it unlocked, so I'm kind of stuck. Very frustrating.

Jeep Assist came to the party and gave me a hire car. I still have to pay fuel and drive an extra 1000km, but it's better than nothing.

That's a shame, I'm planning a trip to Cape York on a tag a long tour and the guide said I only need 2 things: a lift kit and a snorkel, I have QL which hopefully would be ok but I'm worried about not having a snorkel as there are heaps of river crossings.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I did Cape York 3 years ago in a Pajero petrol without a snorkel. The 2 others I was with didn't have snorkels either.

Nice to have but not really a necessity.
