Matty isn't there a significant difference between the routing of the air intake between the Paj and the Grand? I've never worried about water ingestion with my Prado, but I don't have the same confidence when I look under the bonnet of the CRD. The air intake is quite vulnerable, and a very effective blind would be on my list as a minimum if heading into areas with water crossings.

The problem is that a blind becomes ineffective the moment you stop moving. They'd be OK for firm bottom crossings where traction loss is unlikely.

Shanden have a look for a fitted "bra" style radiator blind. Michelle's Sacs used to make them, so maybe Google for MSA canvas?

Cheers,
Steve

Someone else here did Cape York in a WK2 with nothing but duct tape over the gap between the bonnet and the body. Tape, a water bra or the traditional tarp should be fine to stop bow wave water entering the air box. However, should one stall in the creek, it would be nasty if the creek level was higher than the air intake (just under the lip of the bonnet on the left side).

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Can someone with a MY11-MY13 measure the width (height) of the chrome side mouldings on the doors.
I want to see if they are similar to ones I am watching on eBay - MT 4pcs ABS Chrome Body Door Side Molding Trim FOR Jeep Grand Cherokee 2011 2014 | eBay

The seller said "about 5cm". I don't like "about" it is not very helpful.

Hi Snooke,

I just measured the ones on a front door of my MY13 and they are slightly tapered. From 45mm at the front to 47mm at the door opening.
Measured with a vernier.
