Re: WK2 DownUnder

It is possible that this is the worlds worst photo, but spotted a MY12 with colour matched lower bumpers and wheel arches, SRT type wheels. At Castle Hill shops.

Sorry about the blurry photo.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Wasn't Alpine (and Vapour) editions only for the SRT?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Correct, the Jet was the non SRT limited Edition, it was a Laredo base. Still had black lower though

We did Cape York in our 2012 3.6L WK2 including 90% of the OTT.

No issues with water - however we didn't attempt Palm creek or Nolan's brook. Palm creek because it was extremely washed out and there was a queue of four vehicle in a group that we're winching out one by one. We decided to take a small bypass to get ahead and find a camp for the night as it was early afternoon already.
Nolan's brook because it had a stigma about it! We did watch two Patrols go through and survive but we chose to go around the long way.

All I can say is with an attitude of 'not worth the risk', you're really missing out on what the vehicle is really capable of and the fun it brings. There is very little risk if you are well prepared, the air intake is actually quite protected providing you drive correctly (and don't stop in water above the intake!)
There are multiple options to cross some of the creeks - you just need to walk them and be sure of the best approach with the vehicle you have.

We completed the trip from the Gold Coast in 3 weeks and I really wish we had longer. My wife was 14weeks pregnant at the time with our first child!

Our WK2 has the murchison 2.5" lift with Mopar skid plates. It was certainly the most comfortable vehicle in our group, and despite many s******s/funny looks from others it just performed brilliantly. Surprised many onlookers with how easy it makes it look.

My only criticism is the fact we always had one wheel off the ground which can sometimes make you feel uneasy when fully loaded - but the electronic traction control did its thing and just ploughed on!

Kev.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Kev,
Did you get any water in the battery box? I'm a bit worried about that because that is where I have the electronic battery isolator and on the passenger side is where the QL electronics are.

Hi BobT,

No water at all in the battery box. Due to other posts on here I was wary of that too so I did check a few times along the trip that it was dry.

Kev.

While I do not have a CC, THIS seems to be popular with the SRT crowd
