You'll find the side windows on the Laredo have 70-75% tint in the side and rear glasses, which is standard on most modern vehicles these days (without optioning).
Front windscreens are generally clear, except for a tinted band (where fitted), which is in the interlayer.

Factory side and rear toughened glass has the tint added to the glass compound before it's made (no coatings). Tinted laminated glass is usually 2 clear glass panes with the tint in the interlayer.

% tint is expressed as the percentage of light transmitted, not blocked.

(Ex glassy).

OK so the Laredo has factory tinted glass..........salesman told me no tint and that it would need to be done ex factory at the dealership calling it Premium Tint NG.

Still like to know why the build sheet lists all windows tinted when I was told Laredos dont have tint. Sure looks like it has tint in all windows and I'm assuming the windscreen has a tinted visor strip???

While I'm here could someone tell me what the (Buy) in the following indicates. ( I understand the diesel gets the ZF out of Germany)

DFD 8-Spd Auto 8HP70 Trans (Buy)

Also, there is JLPP GPS Antenna Input why is that there?
Im guessing that they have to buy it fron ZF. They assemble the other in the states under license from zf, so im guessing they dont need to buy that one in.

No. Rear privacy glass, Windscreen sun thing as per every car, and rearsish.
Have a look at one on the lot, you will see the Laredo doesn't really have a rear tint. No model have a real front tint either, I had to get my fronts done, included in price of course.

In short, regardless of how it is printed by Jeep, you're not been done over in this case. Limited and above have rear tints.
That is what GEG is - Deep Tint Sunscreen Glass. It is for the rears though, not front. Again, look at any car on the lot, it is very easy to see.

Hey Snuke,

So with premium tint ex the yard I'll expect to get the Ambo/Coffin carrier look.

So you got your fronts done to match or just short of the Rear GEG Deep Tint?

When you're talking privacy glass, you're looking at about 35% tint in those. That would be the little glasses in the cargo area. Not sure if on the LTDs it's in the rear passenger door glass as well.

Rear windscreen is still usually still 70% but it looks darker because of the effect of the darker side windows.

This explains the tint you get. 3 sections.

My car, the tint on the rear windows is standard, the fronts done as darkest legal, which is still not as dark as the rears.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Regarding the 8 speed 8HP70 buy in: if you get the diesel or V8 you get the real ZF 8speed from Germany as a complete gearbox unit, hence the buy-in, but if you get the 3.6 petrol then Jeep assemble their own 8 speed under licence from ZF with some changes.

Do you happen to have the answer to a question I asked a little while ago. What is the UV properties of the deep tint sunscreen glass? I read a few people were applying clear uv film to the sunscreen glass.

Snuke that sure is a nice looking COLOR for a G C as in your ride I'm talking about.
Where did you get your side rails.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Don't know whether its my eyes but the front window, back window & Qrt window look like they have slightly varying degrees of tint and the VIN build sheet definitely states tint in all these glass panels.

Its now 10.00am and of course no call from the dealer, lets see what the remainder of the day brings.

Snuke I wanted a Granite with tint to match the look you have.
