Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just got a really disappointing call from my dealer, saying that my Overland is looking at going into production in August, and delivery will be October/november. This also means he cannot hold my trade-in price.

I asked whether he can find out if it is a 2012 model which I'll be getting, he's gonna find out and let me know.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

LCT applies to options as well as the cost of the car, so any RRP will need to add Options +LCT on the options. The car dealers include LCT in the RRP of the car, but not the options. LCT was last raides in 2008 from 30 to 33%. It does not vary state to state.

P.S going to test a new CRD today at about 3pm.

Let us know how it is, have you tested a Hemi as well to compare??

I'm now not sure what to do, actually looking at an Audi Q5/Q7

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I think the Audi's are nice but severly overpriced for what you get.
I have already tested the Hemi, so it will be good to see how the CRD performs.
When I am at the dealers I will also find out what the ETA for a CRD is from my dealer, as Feb2012 sounds a bit too far away.

Yeah, thats the only thing, though there is a demo (3.0TDi) located here in ACT for $89990, which I am gonna go have a look at today/tomorrow. I paid around 76k for my overland, and my trade in price is going to change (therefore in November when the Overland is delivered, I'm gonna have to pay more), I'm seriously considering a demo/2ndhand Audi/BMW/Merc

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just got back fromt he test drive and I am impressed.
The CRD does have the diesel sound for like 1/2 a second, but it sounds more like a cross betewwn a v6 bark and the diesel sound. The exhaust not is alot like a throaty v6 petrol. There is an innital punch when the turbo kicks in at like 1,000rpm, so there is a tiny hessitation then the boost kicks it. The power delivery is sudden then powerful all the way to 4,000rpm where it starts to taper off. I would not say it fell off the torque curve, rather the boost feels like it is dropping.
I have some pics and video, but need to do it from home.
For anyone waiting, it is going to be worth it.
I still do not have a delivery date or VIN, but I am hoping it will be coming soon.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Still no vin? the sales manager has access, not the salesman, to chysler aus and he knows what vehicles are coming and which ones are sold and who to, all orders are supposed to have a customers name attached, so go the ferret on the sales manager and see if you can find the rabbit!

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I drove the diesel today as well. I have on order the hemi, and decided to stay with the v8. The diesel is very good. Turbo comes on very strong which is nice, just a bit too much lag for my liking, and turbo pressure/force really drops between gear changes. Especially when cruising and the putting your foot down there is quite a bit of time before anything happens. Was not as good as my D5 twin turbo Volvo, so would always have been comparing to that ( which is an exceptional engine ). when in sports mode the turbos are on boost the whole time and don't let up, whereas the jeep seemed to run out off puff (especially during a transmission change). I jumped straight into the v8 and it was strong torque and liquid smooth power all the way.

Don't get me wrong, this diesel is better than any Japanese diesel I have ever driven. Quiet, strong, loads of torque and a big hit of power! Comparing it to a V8 is unfair because the characters of such engines are completely different and each offer their own personality. Certainly not much slower than the v8 if any.

Here is the video of the motor sound. My camera dies just after this, so I do not have anything more.

You need to post it in the Diesel thread.

But be prepared
