Have you contacted JA - maybe they can take the module off another one of their cars while waiting for a replacement from the states.
At this point in time I just put the phone down after they offered me a Mitsubishi Lancer as a loan car while I am waiting.
Will take some deep breaths, calm down a little and will talk to the salesman tomorrow morning, unfortunately it was his day off today.

After being messed around the best part of the day, I knew that I was not going to be capable of listening to more of the excuses to why it was not picked up in Pre-Delivery or why there are no stocks kept in Australia - Without loosing my temper

Re: WK2 DownUnder

That's disappointing to say the least Mark.

One thing I believe none of us were truly aware of when buying our Jeeps is that Jeep Australia would keep no stock of parts at all. Worse still is that irrespective of the situation, they seem unable to make good of this disgraceful state by air freighting parts when it's clearly the right thing to do.

Mate tell Hughes to transfer your money back and that you'll pay for your new car when it's a functional unit.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Does leave a bitter taste in your mouth after parting with a large wad of cash and the long wait for it to arrive then have it crap out on the first little drive!

Makes me wonder if it will be 1 simple hiccup or a sign of things to come?

Mark I don't think that anyone has received one of those textbook "lemons" where everything goes wrong. It's highly likely that this is your one bitter pill and once you get through it you'll have smooth sailing.

Try not to make more of it than it is... not that I'm playing it down or anything!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I hear you Steve, at the moment I am more angry at my self for taking the car last week!
I raised it to climb under to look at the CV Boots but it would not lower back down
Day later the Salesman complained that it was raised and did not lower until it went into Areo after he was on the highway on the way to put fuel in it
Gave trouble when I picked it up but I did not understand the system, the yard was flat out with other pick ups
So stupid me drove it home with the gut feeling something was wrong

Secondly I am pissed with both Jeep Australia for not having parts stocked locally and also John Hughes for not picking it up in their Pre-Delivery test they allegedly did, because it now clear there was an existing issue not something that has failed after delivery

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Complain and bit more and see if they will throw in your first service or two.
Its pretty poor and yes you could crack it and pull the consumer law stuff but it might not be worth it at this stage.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I have had time for a couple of deep breaths, not to mention a couple of relaxing drinks

I do know that I did not spend $80 000 to end up driving a Mitsubishi

Will see what tomorrow brings - Fingers crossed, hopefully things will sorted out

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Tell them to stick the Bitsofshiti and give you a loan GC as a minimum.
I would expect them to remove the module of another car, as the bullshit of 6+ weeks to get a part is pathetic.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I know it is no where near the ideal answer but would you be better off ordering the genuine part in from USA. You would properly have it in about 5 days. This would get the car on the road at least.
The dealer may come to some agreement re re-imbersment.
Cheers

I tried that when I had the idler pulley fail. I sourced one from a US Mopar parts supplier and could have had it in my hand within a week, but JA refused to accept the part - had to come through official channels or would void warranty blah blah blah....

The dealer recognized how stupid the situation was so took the parts off one of their demonstrators, and they waited the 5 weeks - not me.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Spoke to the new cars salesman that I have dealt with from day 1 on Saturday morning, they are now offering me a Chrysler 300 as a loaner. Slight step up from the Mitsubishi Lancer

Said that he was also looking at other options - appears that he is a bit more understanding and caring than the Service Department and does not want this dragged out for the 6-7 weeks

He was happy to get drivers to drop the loaner of to me and has promised to get mine delivered from the service department to my house and then taken back to the service department when parts were available

I had made other transport arrangement for the weekend which suited me better so no need for the car over the weekend - will see what happens and what solutions they have for me Monday morning when I contact them, in their credit the sales department seem to want this sorted as quickly and painlessly as I do

As for buying the parts myself? well I think Jeep Australia needs to lift its game.
If they choose not to carry stock here locally then they should be prepared to Air Freight the parts over instead of leaving customers waiting.
I know I am not the first to be messed around by not having parts locally and unfortunately I wont be the last

Parts supply was a problem 2 years ago and now that there is thousands of GC on the road just seems to be getting worse. I've reported elsewhere the problems I had booking in for my 50k service because of short supply of transmission fluid - crazy.

One of the guys at work is coming to the end of his lease on his Prado, he recognises the value of the GC against another Prado but just isn't prepared to take the risk - I'm sure lots of people making a change decision go through the same thought process. As much as I love my GC I admit I'm a bit over it as far as the crap service goes.
