Re: WK2 DownUnder

It makes a huge difference. You can feel it when it works, especially over rocks. Interesting watching it lock/unlock on the drivetrain page, too.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Did 2550 km so far on my new JGC. No CV Boot issue so far. Been checking every night.

However, this morning, there is an issue with volume control. Turning the volume knob does not change the volume. But it does change the numbering on the top right corner on the screen. I read some where that it will correct itself of any uConnect issues. Let's see. If not, then I will try resetting.

Did anyone here encounter this particular issue before?

J

The best as can be determined for the CV Boot issue is build dates between 1 March and 12-14 April. The Feb build should be OK as would a late April/May.

Does this only affect CRD vehicles or?

There seem to be plenty of happy petrol drivers around, the main issues I can think of are resale, there was an issue with cracking heads on these motors, but they seem to have fixed that, and the transmission on these isn't as strong as the diesel/V8s, so don't be brutal with it.

Other than that, it seems a solid choice for the money.

I understood the transmission in the petrol v6 only differed from that in the other engines by that fact it's built in US under licence, rather than ZF. So I'm interested in why its not as strong as the ZF box.

There are different versions of the ZF 8 speed depending on how much torque it needs to cope with. Jeep use the 8HP45 and the 8HP70. The last 2 numbers tell us the maximum amount of torque the transmission can take, so the 8HP45 isn't suitable for the hemi or CRD. Jeep also wanted to make some changes to the transmission for the pentastar motor so they licensed the design and modified it a little, then called it the 845RE transmission. There have been a few stories of transmission failures on the petrol, but not a lot, and from memory the one that was reported here got replaced under warranty.

The ZF supplied 8HP70 is also built in the US, by ZF.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

After ordering in March, I have finally received my VON. My CRD Overland was built on Sunday (22nd of June) I'm getting super excited now, build sheet even looks correct! I'm guessing the dealer will fit the rock rails after it lands or should this be done at factory if ordered with the car?

Congrats ... nice colour and engine choice.

BTW can you see on the Build Sheet if your ACC is with Stop, please

Thanks

Are you really in North America with a non-diesel model?

Your car is about slightly behind mine on the train .... heading for Curtis Bay port

Regards

Re: WK2 DownUnder

No it's definitely an Australian spec Jeep, getting delivered to Sydney, it has been sitting at the holding facility for a few days so hopefully will be on the train to the port soon.
