Re: WK2 DownUnder

Well I have had my New Laredo for a week now and it has been trouble free for 900ks and I love it.
One question I have is when it is lowering into exit entry mode there is a quite loud noise { i wear hearing aids and can hear it} similar to a pump or valve.
When I put it in for its 1000k service should I mention this noise or is it normal?
A mate with a similar Laredo says his makes the same noise.
He gave me a couple of hints, if you lift the left hand storage bin out you can manually open the fuel filler. There is a wire loop in there which is connected to the fuel cap.
If you take the right hand bin out its a great spot to tuck away some bits and pieces.
Cheers

Yep, that noise is normal when lowering or raising the car.

Thanks Foglamp, glad to hear your enjoying your ride. Mine is scheduled to dock tomorrow and then probably a couple of weeks with the dealer getting my bits fitted. Great tips thanks for those. Hopefully that clunking isn't anything out of the ordinary.

Should I bother checking them now?
Noticed grease on the wheels this morning when going to work. Forgot to call the service dept. today as got caught up so might go and see them in the morning and get into work late.
Fair amount as well.

Bummer! Interesting to see if it is the cv boot issue, how long it takes to get parts.

Really impressed by the guys at the service center. Dropped in this morning on the way to work and they put it up in the hoist and checked it out. Not looking good. Just seeing how long to new parts could get here now.
Car has done 4,000klms so far

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Looks like the dreaded CV Boot failure problem does affect the AU cars.
I hope they have parts and you can get back on the road quickly.

Left hand side one which is ok is in stock in Melb. Righthand side one is being ordered from the states.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Mr Boxhead sir, perhaps you could start a new thread for Australian CV boot failures, where affected owners can list their built dates? I have a particular interest in this information as I'm looking for a new JGC. Besides, you guys are going to need a place to hang out and support one another while waiting for parts.

Cheers,
Steve
