Assuming the shafts are all good, is there anything else I should do/ask before taking delivery? I plan on printing out the pre-delivery checklist I found on the forums and then running through all those points at the dealership to make sure it all checks out.

How do I check that the latest software/firmware updates have been applied? Can I find the latest versions for these somewhere so I can confirm?

Thanks all
Yep, follow the checklist, double check the rims for dings and scratches.

Most other things can be sorted at the first service, but scratches and dings are a bit more difficult to get addressed after the fact.

I think 14.22.13 is the latest, the dealers tend to be behind with their versions, so if you must have the latest then sign up for a membership and you can download the latest and install yourself. I'm on a fairly old version, but I don't have any problems so haven't updated.

edit: 'Settings > System Information' shows your version

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks Benn0. Unfortunately I have received info that the build date is within the faulty CV boots period.

The dealer wants me to take delivery and they will order the parts and do the repair, however I've told them I will not take delivery until it's fixed. Wait time is 6 weeks on parts apparently.

I dunno man... I think you're doing yourself out of 6 weeks of enjoyment. There's not a flood of these things letting go over here. Why not take it on the provision that a decent loan car is available if the problem evidences?

I'd rather have my new car in my control than floating around the car yard.

Cheers,
Steve

Barboots, how is your wait for a replacement going? Are they making you wait?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks for asking IBAJ... I'm getting pretty annoyed with the handling actually. As I wasn't drunk, and the car is less than two years old, I get a new one if it's written off. It's clearly not repairable, especially as it dropped engine oil. As many of us know, stock is pretty tight for Overland CRDs... so I got to work on chasing up cars to assist the process. We couldn't find our colour on the ground in WA, so as reasonable people went looking at other colours... however none appealed for various reasons. I found a matching car in Victoria... and that was my best, exhausted. I figured I'd be pushing it up hill to get them to pay the $1800 freight.

Then a matching car comes out of some computer limbo here in Perth. Can I get the insurers to secure it? No way... the broker said the insurers are using their buying power to try to secure the best possible deal from other sources. Now I think Jesus himself would be struggling to get a few hundred off an in-stock Overland CRD in one of the popular colours, so I rate their chances just above zero. I certainly can't imagine them getting a deal which would offset the freight to WA.

So I'm right now sitting here trying to decide whether I go and contract the car personally tonight... despite the broker suggesting that the insurer may be displeased.

Thanks for "listening",
Steve

Name and shame the insurer. Some are better than others, but then again, the ones that used to be good are no longer. Im in my own battle over a work vehicle that should be written off, but for whatever reason they want to repair. Parts have to come from Germany meaning 6 week delay, and the they estimate 4-5 weeks in repairs. Mind you it took them 4 weeks to make the decision to repair. All out im looking at around 15 weeks of total inconveniences. But we did have 2 weeks car hire included on our policy....
NRMA.... lift your game!

Ughhh... drawn out repairs. What a PITA. I hope it's not interfering with you getting your work done too much?

Maybe my expectations are too high? I just figure that whatever transpires with investigations, they're up for providing us a new car... so why not just get on with it? You can spend millions on advertising and render it worthless, one person at a time, by word of mouth. I'll start...

... hmmm...

... around Friday.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

One of the family had a lot of trouble with Youi when after an accident they had a drawn out repair rather than a write off.
Customer service was useless as well.
They had so many issues with the car after it was repaired then traded it in on a new one and ditched Youi.

Yep, I agree with this. If you can get a loaner IF the boots come loose before the parts arrive.

There is always the possibility they will repair it?
In my case it was a case of over insuring. Had the vehicle for 10yrs. Never really checked the insurance renewal, just paid it. Turns out it was insured for 'agreed value' which was about 12.5k over the market value. The repairs are costing the same amount as the vehicle is worth, yet to write it off would be costing the insurer an aditional 12k. Im selling after the repair. Anyone want a repaired VW Transporter TDI?
