Re: WK2 DownUnder

The day has finally arrived. Pickup at 10.30am tomorrow from Bayford Jeep here in Hawthorn. Take possession at 10.30, off to the tyre dealer at 12.00 to change over the stock to BFG All Terrain T/A's and then get the windows tinted at 2pm!! Job done! Then load her up and head to the snow for the weekend. Nothing like a nice long drive to sort her out..... painless I hope!!

Congrats Red PeeKay I just bought my wife a KL Cherokee at Bayford this afternoon. It was a great shopping experience; no dramas. Let's hope the after-sales service is just as good.

I'll be going back there in 12 - 24 months to get my Grand Cherokee from them too.

Enjoy your new car. Looking forward to reading all the good updates from you. Well done.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Great idea on keeping informed about the after-sales experience. Let's keep those fingers crossed.

I don't know about an SRT Hellcat but it will be a grand cherokee. But I couldn't keep my eyes of this beauty when I was in at Bayford today.

[IMG][/IMG]

It has the Pano Roof and rear seat DVD too. You'll see it there tomorrow

PS: I have a birthday coming up in September and I was hoping for a new Playstation 4, but I'd rather an SRT ;-)

Good to know it's so popular. Bad to know I'm no longer special. Anyway, it means more and cheaper aftermarket parts and with any luck, dealer mechanics might begin to realise they are dealing with something more sophisticated than an FJ Holden.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Picked the beast up today. No hassles, as with Marty, Bayside Jeep were great to deal with. Changed the tyres over at a local car dealer, they even gave me a trade on the Michelins. They didn't want the Kuhmo (spare) so will sell that one. Got the tinting done (privacy glass finish), so its lookin' pretty mean!!

Can verify the BFG All Terrain TA's fit nicely on the car and the spare fits in the wheel well. Had to take out the two plastic storage bins but enough room to cram odds and ends in. The cover fits over the top.....just

Then wrestled with the car seat covers (lambswools off the patrol) for an hour. What a bitch to get on!! Now loading the girl up and will head up into the mountains for the weekend. Damn she's wet already!!. Will post photos and thoughts upon my return Monday.

Will have to change my chains over as they were for the BFG 16"'s and change over my roof racks. Then pretty much done.

Also informed today that Bayside are close to sorting a deal on a Sat Nav for the Laredo. Will be an aftermarket software update to the Uconnect rather than a new unit. Not sure on price or quality but will let you know when they get back to me.

The reversing camera still to be fitted, awaiting the loom which arrives in August..... and as I pointed out to them, that was today. So hopefully shortly!!

Cheers all, thanks for your help and hopefully a happy member of the Jeep Family!! Now to hit the highway and enjoy the beast!!

Just a quick shot of the girl prior to the tinting being done. Had just fitted the BFG's and off to the "dodgy" tint place on Richmond. He did a great job. Nearly killed myself on the drive up to Buller, can't believe the power, this thing goes like a cut cat! Even managed some off road and a small creek crossing! All good.

Congrats Red Peekay,

I must say, I admire your self confidence.

Driving a car you are still getting to know up to Buller, on what must be one of the best hill-climb roads in Aussie, at this time of year, at night.

It must be that the Jeep is a confidence inspiring vehicle

The first time I drove that road, I was overtaken, by a fattish bloke, on a mountain bike, on the outside of a corner. Downhill of course! I sh*t you, not. (In my defence, I was driving a Toyota Hi-ace with 7 blokes in the back!)

Enjoy the snow.

Gr8Ness.

As you can see taking a little more out, than the initial trace, is worthwhile if you want the adjustability of getting it dead centre on the bonnet.

I blame the initial misalignment on my wife ......
That protector could have saved me from whenever I got this ding. No idea how or when. Weak aluminum hood. uploadfromtaptalk1406955883545.jpg

Imaz, that is exactly the kind of damage I hope the bonnet protector will eliminate. The leading edge and forward facing panel work tend to cop a hiding from flying stones etc.

I'm also researching spraying a 'film' of plastic on the grill and bumper.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

There's a roll on treatment which is good for scratches, but I'm not sure it'd do much against a bit of blue metal at a hundred kays an hour.
