Re: WK2 DownUnder

That area is for the Quadra-Lift electronics.
Non QL cars do not have anything in that area.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Nic I'm probably not the only one who feels you've been pointed in the right direction. The accessory socket power is the location to pick up power... you'd only need an offcut of 3mm twin to reach it from the location you've described.

Whilst I could go and find a hot wire under the seat, it's not necessarily a good decision to grab power from vehicle subsystems. Even low power UHF radios can modulate their power supply enough to upset sensitive modern circuits. Dedicated accessory feeds are by design more tolerant... hence their significantly increased suitability for the task.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: WK2 DownUnder

If the car has ventilated seats then the fan is stored under there too.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Small aerial fitted for around town and entering my garage. Will swap over to my longer one on trips away. Was a neat clean fit hid the control box under the lhs floor and mounted the speaker under the lh seat.

Not meaning to be rude, but WTF!
You don't bother posting what model you have in your initial question, bitch that others have answered the question, yet actually have the car, so could have just gotten off your ass and had a look yourself.

As you can see by those of us that tried to help you (apparently for no good reason) we all have the details of our cars in our signatures to let others know relevant info, you may wish to look at that yourself and put your location info up so we don't have to assume that you have an Aus spec vehicle.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Jeez I'm confused. Were you planning on pulling an accessory feed from under the seat or not?

Snuke is not alone in his views. If members are trying to assist you, you need to help yourself with supplying adequate info.
He was not attempting to police the thread, but merely attempting to get you familiar with the concepts.
Afterall, he actually went to the trouble of loading an image, something you could have done in the first place.
I also agree that the safest and most logical place to run an accessory wire is from the back of the 12V accessory. It is much safer than connecting to a device which is monitored by Canbus. But as you are an expert, you would already know that.
BTW. I like where you placed the aerial.
