I had a number of pieces done at the same time all up I paid about 2 grand for everything. it is around 150 to 200 per piece. not sure if it is cheaper over your side we don't have much competition here in the west

There are plenty of parts that can be dipped.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Was driving past the dealer in Penrith on the weekend so dropped in to have a look at a Limited - wanted to show my missus. IF, and a big IF, I replace my Laredo at the end of the year I'm thinking I'll go for a Limited. Anyway - I got the usual from the sales dude, hasn't worked there long, wasn't sure, will have to check.... My Laredo came from this dealer, which I mentioned. You would think I was easy repeat business if they just showed the slightest bit of improvement from 3 years ago. Good grief.

By contrast I also had a look at a VW Passat Allroad in the same dealership. That sales guy was very good, knowledgable and seemed to actually want to help.

What is it with Jeep dealers? Are they the bottom of the food chain?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Picked up my Overland on Saturday, 2 hours later had the ELSD locked

Something that was a surprise is that my car has SelecSpeed ( i was under the impression that only the V8 got this). Even got a chance to test it out and it works really well.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just discussing that with the yanks, seems that builds from April onwards get it in the diesel.... mine was a Feb build

Hey mate, love what you've done to your srt. Devils on the details.
I wanted to ask if you got your rims from ozzy ? Or is there another company that do better deals. I'm comparing US vs our prices and it's not even close.
Thanks

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi Guys, thought I would give some info about my recent towing experience.
We went from Perth to South Australia, 10000km and about 5000km towing.
I have a 2014 WK2 Laredo diesel. We towed a Jayco Outback - caravan weighed in at 2799kg.
Towing at about 95km/h I got the following economy. tail wind ~14-15 l/100km, no wind about 16-17 and headwind about 20.
The jeep is a fantastic tow vehicle. I left it in Drive with Eco on. Generally, at 95km/h it chose 7th gear keeping the engine at 2000rpm. Hottest oil temperature was 126C which was towing up the South East expressway out of Adelaide at 100km/h. the temperature gauge went up a little but not as far as three quarters. The engine certainly never derated or did anything else to protect the engine from overheating.
Nowadays, there's quite a few WKs out there towing heavy loads.
cheers
Peter

Re: WK2 DownUnder

The consumption figure appears slightly high for what you were towing, and for the conditions. My van is over 3Tonne, and I get 11-12's /100klm.
Also the temps appear slightly high, as my transmission temp hovers around 96c, and climb to about 115 up a long hill.
Your figures are nothing to be concerned about, and maybe due to low klms on the car?

FYI, I towed two vans to Toowoomba a few weeks ago for the caravan show, one 17 foot Bushtracker and one 20 footer and both trips were exactly the same, 13 litres/100.

It was interesting for us that the first two vans were around 300kgs different to each other but the fuel use was the same. Kind of dispels the belief that many people have about heavier vans being more expensive to tow.

Last weekend went to the Gold Coast hinterland with our van at around 3200kg and averaged 12/100.

I always tow in Sport 4.

Pete
