The reporter then hopped into a helicopter and got out of the place, while the others attempted to tow the GC out. Took them several hours, and apparently was a delight to watch.
I bet it was a delight to watch. It totally makes up for all the trauma Jeep Aust. has bestowed on us since 2011. Assuming they got some usable footage, I wonder if Jeep will dare use it now that the news is out.

Well my 2015 SRT finally turned up in Cherry red last Wednesday! What a beast! After coming from an Overland 2012 with the diesel.
which dont get me wrong was a great thing but the SRT just takes to a differant level.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hey guys, does anyone know what sort of force it should take for the airbag to deploy? My wife rear ended someone and spent the night in hospital because she banged her head into the steering wheel. She didn't break anything, just ended up with a bruised eyeball and a bunch of cuts. This was in a 2013 build MY2014 GC Limited.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I'd say it needs to be fairly forceful. I was involved in a 7 car pile up in my my2013.
Hit from front and rear quite hard and no airbags were deployed.

Hope your mrs is ok.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

That's good to hear.

My wife had to go to hospital aswell. She was suffering from back and neck pain so had ambo take her there.
Turned out to be just bad whiplash.

Car was written off - twisted chassis

Re: WK2 DownUnder

When hit at 60km/h I had the side airbags deploy on the impact side of the car, as well as my belt tensioner. As it was an "unbraked" collision and much of the impact was on the front wheel, the shock transfer would have been quite sharp. This is what the sensors are geared towards. When crumple zones are still at work the airbags often don't fire.

Bear in mind an airbag might look like a comfy cushion, but it's quite possible to sustain injury from them... especially if you wear glasses.

Fred I hope your wife has a speedy and complete recovery. Out of interest, is your wife short and does she tend to sit a little more forward?

Cheers,
Steve
