Great find! I guess the chickens have come home to roost at last. We always thought there was something fishy about Clive and the way he ran things or didn't run things.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

What I can't understand is why I had to pay for my Jeep, while others got theirs for free. Mine also didn't come with a holiday home or yacht.
It sort of makes sense for Clive to have appointed that wedding planner bimbo to replace him. She was never going to disclose any unusual activities.

SJandL, if I try VR on my MY14 I get the response "speech destination entry is not possible for this country".

Since it works on MY15s does anyone out there know if it can be made to work on an MY14, i.e. software update?? Or do I need to update the entire vehicle. Same with not having DAB+ radio.

cheers

Re: WK2 DownUnder

DAB requires hardware.
VR for Nav requires Jeep Australia to fulfil their advertised features.

Yep - sucks doesn't it.

They won't and have invoked the fine print on the back of that old brochure. This paragraph centred around the conversation I had with them a few months ago. It says (my bold):

'Chrysler Group LLC reserves the right to make changes from time to time, without notice or obligation, in prices, specifications, colours, materials and to change or discontinue models, which are considered necessary to the purpose of product improvement or reasons of design and/or marketing'

When the KL was being serviced a couple of weeks ago, I noticed new brochures (for all Jeep models) and had a gander. I noticed that on each page - in the usual size 2 font that fine print always seems to be printed in, it stated (and I can't remember word for word so I am paraphrasing) but it went something like this -

'Features listed in this brochure may not be applicable for your model or country'

So a bit like the 'Overseas model shown' caption that we frequently see on the bottom of all car manufacturer adverts on the TV.

As far as the MY14 goes QPR, it will not (as far as I know) ever be there. The head units have changed apparently so it is far more than a software update.

Maybe Willx, if he reads this thread might be able to comment more but if you want VR Nav, then, at the moment, you will need to upgrade to an MY15+.

Fred, my testing has indicated that you must be very accurate with your suburbs and also say NSW or VIC or WA etc.

For example, it wouldn't find a Lane Cove address for me when I just said Lane Cove. I had to say Lane Cove West (which was accurate and that is how I would probably write an envelope going to that address).

What I did then, was choose a dozen random addresses out of the phone book which gave the accurate suburb (according to Aust Post) and then I was successful with its recognition.

See how you go.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I have a HEMA HN7 Nav - cost a dam sight less than the jeep in built Nav. The HEMA knows what state I am in without me telling it and generally picks up towns and localities within the first few letters being typed in. And it has all HEMA maps for off road as well. Why anyone would get a generic, expensive inbuilt Nav is beyond me.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Yep - Husband uses his iPhone/Google maps for nav when he needs navigation (and is in the WK2) and then just switches it to come through Uconnect, speaker-wise. Obviously, he doesn't get turn-by-turn on the EVIC but voice is good enough for him.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi all, I just picked up my MY15 Overland. FINALLY!! Woo-hoo!

Amazing screen. I'm a bit blown away by the size of the Manual. Is there a TAFE course I could go to to understand how to set up the car? I can't believe how many options there are. The digital radio is a nice touch.
