Maybe Willx, if he reads this thread might be able to comment more but if you want VR Nav, then, at the moment, you will need to upgrade to an MY15+.

A reply I got asking about maps & jailbreak for my Laredo

Quote:
If you are from OZ, GCC or South Africa (regions that have RJ3:s) you needs to purchase a RAX-conversion for the maps.

For front cams etc you needs to purchase our SILVER JailBreak kit if you like cargo cam as well you needs the GOLD kit.

Register a forum account to get discount, wait for my approval before start shopping.

Rgds,
link to the Jail Break thread : new lockpick for the 8,4 uconnect, 99% software

I agree. I have a MudMap M7. It's pretty much the same thing. Works like a dream. I can pop it off the frame, carry it around with me and plug it into a PC to update. No Chrysler shenanigans to worry about.

Thanks for the congrats Steve1307.

Sorry for my ignorance but, why switch off Hill Start Assist? Is there too much rolling resistance, will it affect the time-space continuum and my Jeep implodes?

I've got my serious eyes back on, why do you say that Steve1307?

It will hold the car and bogs it down on take off. Only useful if you are actually on a steep hill and /or towing.

Forgetting the chatter above about what you should switch on or off - you've had it for 24 hours now. I want to know - what do you think ????

That's what I like about you guys - good sence of humour!

Thanks for asking SJandL. Well in one word..........WOW!

I tried the ACC yesterday and - how mad is that? It actually followed the flow of traffic and slowed the car right down to a stop and, if the traffic moved soon enough, it would accelerate right up again. Still trying to get around the options. The car manual for the radio seems to be for a different model as the book shows a CD player on the main dash unit instead of the exceptionally large unit in the glove compartment.

The digital radio is a nice touch. I can now listen to the glorious monotones of ABC National Radio IN STEREO during the 0.5% of radio air-time it actually plays music!

I love the pano sunroof. A little bit of lag on acceleration even with the Hill Start Assist turned off (thanks again Steve1307 & SNUKE for the tip and explanation)

I wish the Aussie tow bar looked liked the way the USA model is finished. I know, I know - didn't meet Australian standards.. I still kept the rear tow hook attached as I believe that some had theirs removed.

The steering is going to take a little to get used to as mine is very light (and I dare say everyone else's) and doesn't return to centre as easily as my other cars. I seem to have to manually return the steering wheel to centre after a turn - like an "L" plate driver.

Nevertheless, I think that I am probably the longest Jeep Garage member (almost 3 years) that didn't own a Jeep until now - I could be wrong though. Anyway, I am very pleased with my Jeep and look forward to many years of pleasure. I can now understand what you guys are talking about when you mention in detail certain aspects of the Jeep.

Let the fun and banter continue!

Okay, I'm with cptslobodan, what exactly is the issue with having the HSA turned on around town in our auto's?? I've tried doing a bit of reading around and found this comment on another site:
Quote:
HSA on a manual kicks in on a 3% slope, just 1.7 degrees!
On an auto, it kicks in on an 8% slope, 4.6 degrees.

So, manual drivers are experiencing HSA on just tiny slopes, while those of us driving an auto might appreciate it stopping rolling backwards on a steeper incline.
I'm not really noticing a lot of difference around town with it on or off. Plant my foot at the lights and off I go. There doesn't seem to be too much lag. My understanding is that HSA is of more value to manuals because when your on a hill and stopped, the HSA will apply the same amount of pressure you did on the brake for a split second to prevent you from rolling back. The auto by its nature holds you anyway, so unless your on a really steep hill (and it would appear 8% slope is what it is set at), the HSA won't activate. I still find on normal city inclines with the HSA turned off, when stopped, I can take the foot off the brake and the car will hold and even at times begin to creep forward.

Can anyone clear this up for me? ON or OFF?? Thanks.

This is a personal preference. I now keep mine off for reasons stated earlier. The auto does a little retarding anyway and the HSA will add to eatra wear on the brake pads.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

My house is at the bottom of a hill. When I leave in the morning I reverse out of my driveway and start off in 1st. There is a little surge as the brake doesn't seem to want to let go, then eventually does. Then as I head up the steep hill the auto tries to change to 2nd, and for some reason the HSA appears to be engaging again, so I get a build up of revs followed by a big lurch as it changes into 2nd. Its very unnerving!

I notice similar surges around shopping center car parks, even when it is fairly flat.

I tried turning HSA off, and all good, I get no surges or lurches from dead stop or between 1st and 2nd. I do still get LAG when I have to stop at the top of the hill and go to turn right onto a busier road, as previously stated I believe its the torque converter, and seems to be less of an issue once the car warms up.
