Re: WK2 DownUnder

Regarding extended warranties, I think I've said this before, any form of insurance is a means of buying risk mitigation to protect against bankruptcy. So unless you feel that the failure of a major component of your car will push you into financial destitution, you don't need it. If you are in that situation then you probably bought the wrong car. Extended warranties are not offered out of the goodness of the company's heart. They expect to win and they usually do, so guess who looses?

Unless you get the CJD max care, then we'd all sell the jeeps before Chrysler goes bust.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

In the past the factory extended warranty was underwriten by Swann Insurance and while managed by Jeep, needed approval by Swann. Don't know if it has changed but I don't think it is worth it as there is too many exclusions and 'outs' for them.

Don't miss the worry if it was to stop again.
110kmh engine stops on a bend no power steering not good.
Happened once on a gravel road that was interesting.

Not good! Was that the issue there was a recall for or something else?

Yes but the recall was a bandage. Mine was replace before the recall. Towed the last 50km to Perth. 2 months no car.
Then the recall put the fuel pump relay out of the power module and screwed to the fender.
Then the module failed again and was replaced.
Then out of warranty it would just cut out no power to anything.

Think i fixed it pulled it out and re soldered everything I could get to.
But can't trust it.

Are saying your issues are related back to attempts to fix the adaptive cruise control? It's such a shame when marketing pressures force good features to be pushed out before they are really ready.

No nothing to do with the adaptive cruse.

The power management module that supplies power to all the computers.
The car would just go dead nothing, no dash no door locks no engine nothing.

For me adaptive cruse was the best feature. Never had an issue with it.

Still in the new car nearly forget to use the brake coming up on road trains.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Wow had this happen today who else has experienced this and what caused it? Approaching an intersection with a slight bend car stalled and locked steering at around 30kph lucky i was driving and was able to pull it up. Re started straight away but dangerous situation for the unwary

Someone else has mentioned this and have since sold their car, I thought it was on this forum.

Hi nicjak,

I believe that all high tech vehicles, Hi Fi, even electric tooth brushes have a tendency for the odd one off event.

Last week I pushed the start button on my 13 JGC and nothing, nada not a single light or indication that it was aware of my presence.

I fooled about for a few seconds, got out locked it, unlocked , got back in and away it went as though nothing had occurred previously.

I can't see the point in trying to track it down as without the fault present it is virtually impossible to trace and remedy.

Sometimes we just have to live with it.

Pete
