Bugger - a run on the M7 today revealed that the racks whistle badly.

The Mopar roof racks hardly make any noise at all.

I have replaced them on my WK2 with a GOBI roof basket and it is pretty ok too up to 100kmh where it then starts to make a turbulence noise but i havent put the deflector on yet. The wind noise however cant be heard over the tyre noise when i have my MT's on.

Had the pro racks done the same whistle like crazy.
Glad it was just a turn of the key to take them off.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I had (have) the jeep bars on my old Laredo and they make no noise at all. I went for the rhinos because they are stronger than the jeep ones and don't have a curve. I want to leave them on all the time - you never know when you'll need them. But the whistle is terrible.

Thinking of taking them back.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I think if you have the edges hanging off they will make noise, but if their flush then should be ok

Do they have any rubber inserts to fill any grooves, as if u don't put them in they make a lot of noise.

Are they the bolt on ones? If so did you fit the plastic "U" shaped cover strips to blank the holes underneath? I had them until the wife tried to create a convertible using the garage door. I have since reverted to Thule bars that I had for my previous Kia Sorento.

Regards

Adrian

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I've fitted the rubber strips to the top. There are slots on the underside where they mount to the legs.

Finding the whistle source will be virtually impossible - Shirley rhino test them???
