GMWK2.

My apologies my old bars were Rola not Rhino (just checked them). The Rola comes with a "U" shaped insert to be cut to length and inserted into the lower slot to cover the noise maker (that will be where the whistle is coming from). A review of the Rhino instructions clearly does not mention this part or anything similar. I now have my Thule set up operational and this did not whistle in any way on my old car.

From memory the Rhino and Rola bars are very similar. Talk to your bar supplier to see if the Rhino has a cover piece.

Regards

Adrian.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I agree with Hutch. Make sure all holes are plugged and gaps filled. I wouldn't have thought those bars would whistle. They look so well designed. On the plus side, if they whistle, it will encourage you to take them off when not in use thus saving fuel.

I used to have a pair of the old school round roof bars. They hummed badly when not loaded. The problem was solved by stretching an ockie strap lengthwise along the bar with a turn or two around the bar. This broke up the alternating vortex shedding around the bars. This is also why one sometimes sees spirals around the outside of tall smoke stacks.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

The rhino bars have slots along the full length of the underside where the legs slide on. I might just run a length of electrical tape over the slots and see if that helps.

But this is patch up in my view - they shouldnt whistle in the first place.

But not when approaching a low bridge or tunnel.

OK, FCA just sent me a registered letter about the R09 Fuel Pump recall. They must be getting serious and want to be able to prove they notified me. I guess I'll have to book it in.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

hey there

I have just picked up my 13 overland brilliant black and was wondering if the spider monkey rims off ebay would fit my rig.
Also was wanting to put Niooto's 295/55R20 off road tyres on the rims.
Would they fit and would the increase in diameter affect the vehicle.

WK2 DownUnder

The rims will fit 295/55/20 not sure. I run 275/55/20 not much room left. Maybe 295/45/20

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Those rims are fine, they SRT rims so the offset is a little more. I just think the 295/55/20 will be too tall and they will rub. The 295/45/20 should fit those rims or 275/55/20 will fit as well.
