I bet in a small country town it doesn't matter who you ring - nrma, allianz, jeep assist - the same local mechanic will come to your aid.

There is an entire thread about it in this Export section, have a look for it.
Using the search function will bring it up very quickly.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Even though i have a workshop i still have racv for piece of mind think its around $80-90. Local tow truck mob have the contract for jeep assist, all they are required to do is tow or give fuel they have no dedicated service vehicle like racv or similar. Personally jeep assist in this case is rubbish.

I think that is right - a lot if the time Allianz jeep assist is just a towie. That's what happened when I rang them a few years ago - just a tow truck.

That makes sense now that I think about it. Actually while I favour NRMA, I was very disappointed with them once at Jindabyne. My car got side swiped while parked. It was still drivable but only just. I limped off to the NRMA depot to see if the guy could pull the mud guard further off the wheel. He looked at it and promptly said because the car is mobile he is not touching it. I limped back and had to bash the mud guard out myself. Thanks for nothing NRMA! Maybe this guy was just a bastard but it could mean that if one's Jeep drops into limp home mode, NRMA will be no help, let alone Jeep Assist.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I used jeep assist once when I had a flat battery. The service was similar to RACQ here in QLD. A guy came out in a little panel van kitted out with most of the basic equipment that RACQ usually carry...

Unfortunately, you get good and bad everywhere. It depends on the local person who is contracted. I would not be surprised in remote areas that the same guy may be contracted for all service providers. Just pack some Gorilla tape next time:

Re: WK2 DownUnder

While Jeep Assist normally is ok, they don't have any depot like NRMA and will only tow to the jeep dealer or their recommended workshop. So if you are fine with that its ok but if you want to go to someone else it's a problem. They also cap the vehicle age at 10years old and don't want to know about it after that.
