Wondering what sort of documentation recent new owners have received regarding Jeep Assist.

A letter? Sticker for windscreen?

At the moment I haven't received anything for my MY15 which was delivered in January.

Any information would be appreciated.
So I finally received a letter and membership card from Jeep Assist. Only took 2 emails and 2 phone calls to the dealer (who told me that Jeep Assist don't issue anything), 2 emails to FCA Customer Service and a call to Allianz.

Just about 6 months from when I picked up my Overland.

Who said the system does not work....

Re: WK2 DownUnder

From Diesel Supplementary Owners Manual

NOTE: When a diesel engine is allowed to run out of fuel, air is pulled into the fuel system.
If the vehicle will not start, refer to “Maintenance Procedures/Priming If The Engine Has Run Out Of Fuel” in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” for further information.

Priming If The Engine Has Run Out Of Fuel:

1. Add a substantial amount of fuel to the tank, approximately 2 to 5 gal (8L to 19L).

2. Press ignition switch twice without your foot on brake to put vehicle in Run position. This will activate the in tank fuel pump for approximately 30 seconds. Repeat this process twice.

3. Start the engine using the “Normal Starting” procedure. Refer to “Starting Procedures” in “Starting and Operating” for further information.

NOTE: The engine may run rough until the air is forced from all the fuel lines

CAUTION!
The starter motor will engage for approximately 30 seconds at a time. Allow two minutes between cranking intervals.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks Snuke - car is a mux. Do you recon this will work for it ? Basically fill it with fuel. Run the fuel pump then give it a crank and see if it fires? Or will this cause damage?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

From Drive:

If you have an older diesel vehicle fitted with a mechanical fuel system there are some complications if you run out of fuel.

Depending on the fuel system, you may be able to get away with priming it with the pump that is fitted in the fuel system (check your manual) or it can get as complicated as removing and filling the fuel filter first, then "cracking" the injector lines and cranking the engine to bleed air out of the system.

Either way, it probably means a trip to the mechanic. Modern common-rail diesels are different; the fuel system works in a similar way to fuel-injected petrol engines so if you run out of fuel, fill the tank and the computer and fuel pumps will take care of the rest

Thanks - as I thought. A lottery depending on the particular vehicle. He's rung his roadside assist so I guess I'll find out what they did on monday morning.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Lottery is an understatement wish it was as easy as manuals state. But unfortunately some just dont want to play the game. Its a daily chore in our workshop replacing primers cracking injector and fuel pump lines and using air in fueltanks to help push the fuel through

Re: WK2 DownUnder

So full story is :

Said staff member knocks on my office door, in a bit of a flap - " how long do glow plugs last " . "Umm - pretty much for ever I think", I say. On questioning, staff member discloses that his wife has rung him, broken down. We have never had a diesel before he says. Not sure what is wrong...

I say, well, normally one of two things. Either fuel or electrical. Electrical unlikely in a diesel (!). Staff member then discloses that "well, the fuel light was on last night - thought there would be enough for the kid runs that my wife needed to do". Ahhhh, I say. I betcha its run out of fuel. I tell him this is going to be painful as the system will need to be primed to get the car going....blank looks.....

Car is 3 yr old MUX with 40,000ks. Still under warranty? I enquire. Don't know. Do you have road side assist? Don't know. Car is under a lease - does your lease company offer road side assist as part of your deal? Don't know. NRMA? Don't know.

Anyway, I rang his lease company for him and turns out he does have roadside assist and we had help dispatched to wife and 5 kids. He heads out too.

It is a wonder how some people get through their lives by themselves.....

Fuel pump will be his next issue, and the bill will not be small.

Most people are pretty useless, need to look after the good employees when you get them.

I'd be pretty keen to get rid of someone working for me if they did that - haha.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Funnily enough I received two more letters from Jeep today. Two more Jeep Assist cards. I now have three.

So I should be right if I ever run out of fuel.

Turns out apparently the MUX have a fail safe cut off and will not pump the fuel system dry. No need to prime the fuel system. Staff member was able to justo op up the tank and start up as normal.
