Re: WK2 DownUnder

Bit the bullet on the weekend and ordered the Nav activation for my Laredo.
mrcasidy on ebay was great to deal with, sent him the Response Code with payment and had the activation code back with in 15 hrs (sunday arvo).

Activated and had navigation up and running in a couple of minuets. Only had to set country code & state and was away.

I'm in Perth at the moment and its working well, Nice to have detailed turn instructions come up on the evic.

Can't recommend mrcasidy highly enough, he also was able to offer a better price than he advertised on ebay.

I wonder how mrcasidy gets these codes??? I gather it is unique code for each vehicle.

Yes, once you make contact with him, he'll send you instructions on how to access the Nav request code to make sure the 8.4A RA3 is suitable, (unique to each vehicle so don't use mine ) he can tell from the Request Code.
You send him the Paypal for the agreed amount and he'll send back the unlocking code.

The only thing so far that annoys me is the Audible instruction default back to 12 each time you start up.
I prefer them down as I'm capable of using my eyes to follow the map.

Hey 67HR,
Another Perth local here. just a quick question. Did you get updated map info? My dealer (DVG Maddington) keep telling me that there is no updates for the map data since my car was delivered. With all of the road works that have happened around Perth since 2014 its a bit poor I think.

Hi Redldr, no I didn't, the map database already resides in the unit. So what I did merely unlocked it.

I was quite impressed as I have family in Piara Waters near the primary school. From the City most GPS's want to take you down St Street to Nicholson. This one took me via the freeway to Berrigan & Jandacot Rd, which is the best way. It worked through the Farmer tunnel and you get nice big pic's of the off ramps on the UConnect & as mentioned turn instructions pop up on the Evic.

I only get to Perth about 6 times a year and mostly to existing suburbs & established Commercial areas, so the map data base for me is not a big concern.
In saying that i'd like to see more updates.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Yesterday whilst tackling a rutted out track the front bash plate got snagged, lifting both front wheels, reversed slightly and then went forward again, got stuck and then had the 'Service Air Suspension Immediately' warning.
I tried to reverse but was stuck, front and rear wheels now spinning. Had someone pull me backwards about 5 metres and then tried again. Got stuck but on a different section which I had previously overcome. Got towed further back and got out of the rut and parked on a side track.

When I got out of the car, I saw that the Quadra-lift suspension was in 'Park Height'. Was still showing ORII height on the display, pressed the up/down button and got no response. Turned the engine off and then restarted. Suspension started raising and 'Service Air Suspension Immediately' no longer displayed in the message section.

At the time I was only in 4High Auto and probably should have had it in 4Low.

Anyone else experienced this? I recall a reading about people stuck in sand and the Quadra-lift air suspension lowering.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Had a similar problem when beach camping with our caravan, after being parked up for a couple of days sand had built up around the tyres so cleared it and raised to OR1 but with the van getting momentum was a bit hard and started to dig in so turned off the car to do a bit more digging and then try again, went to take off and the car was bottomed out it was at this stage I noticed it had reset itself back to normal and lowered again. We eventually drove off the beach but a lesson learnt if the car is turned off during a raised event it needs to be dialled in again for lifting before starting off😳

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I googled Jeep K8 and found this report from February. The report is not much help but the comments are interesting.

Elongated Jeep Cherokee Spied. What Does it Mean? AutoGuide.com News

An elongated KL? Surely not.

Good find, I didn't see that one coming. So will it make it here, or is this just for China?

Well if I'd just read that article first, then I would say just China. But because I saw Milous' entry under 'Future Jeep Information' first and he has reported Asia/Pacific then I would bank my money on his info. I found that Feb report later.

ETA: For clarification - Milous' info has come later than the Feb report.
