It was $895 through my dealer, installed by the local muffler dude, who does an excellent job, he's even thinking about a GC for himself.... apparently the towbars are a little scarce, what a surprise.... must be a jeep thing....Oh yeah, 3500kg max, tongue weight 350kg max.

I did the installation myself, and admit that I was outside my comfort zone there for a while. I was quoted $NZ 1800 fitted for the tow bar, so purchased one direct from the manufacturer in Auckland (Best Bars) just under NZ$1000 including the wiring harness and came complete with excellent fitting instructions, but still took four hours to fit. If I had to do it again, it would take less than two hours. 3500kg - 350kg ball load. Dealer said WDH should not be used in conjunction with air suspension, and as the test tow I did with the caravan behind a 5.7 Hemi Limited with air suspension was fine I am quite happy. I have an auto sparkie arranged to fit my Tekonsha Prodogy P3 brake controller and run auxillary 12v feed for caravan next week.

Doing a gentle breaking in 300 km loop tomorrow, so will be interested to see how the fuel economy stacks up against the amazing claims.

Will post some photos tomorrow

Cheers Chris

Re: WK2 DownUnder

will be interested in the install of the brake controller, a happy snap would be good,
I am still trying to work out the were to put the thing without drilling the plastic panels,
mines booked in 16th aug for the same electrics, dealer did my bar as part of the deal.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I have considered fitting it inside the lidded compartment in the centre console, but will more than likely "drill the holes" and mount it quite low down on the RH side of the steering column.

I hope to have it done on Tuesday so will post some photos of the finished article.

Cheers Chris

Hayman Reece also quoted me $895 installed when I called them. Seems a lot better than the $1400 I was quoted by the dealer.

more on that brake controller, am thinking an L shaped bracket where the door closers and up on right hand side of the dash so as it sits next to the speedo,
there,s a half moon piece at the dash end just have to work out how it comes off, and tail the wires through it, 1000k service tomorrow, run it by the service dept for that or other thoughts, cheers Peter

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi All

Ordered my Overland CRD on the Friday just gone in Bright Silver. I have been assured of an October delivery and, after reading up on the forums last night, was even given my VIN by the dealer after I insisted.

Am tempted to become a site supporter so I can track my car as it makes its way here!

I'm very excited that I'll be a Jeep owner in a few months. Like all of you, I'm blown away by the value/quality these new GCs represent.
