I'm very excited that I'll be a Jeep owner in a few months. Like all of you, I'm blown away by the value/quality these new GCs represent.
Hmm, Although I've already got my car, I'm going to become a site supporter, worth it for all the info and ideas found here, I ended up with my vehicle tracking and build information which is very detailed well worth doing, as these cars seem to be addictive for some reason... I better go pick a level, put my money where my mouth is...

I mounted the brake controller on top of the dash immediately to the right of the instrument cluster using good quality automotive double sided mounting tape. My auto sparkie is going to run the wires tomorrow. Will post some photos of the finished installation tomorrow evening.

I have also purchased a "my gig lock unpick" harness to enable me to run an extra video feed to the screen on the dash from the camera on the rear of the caravan.

Cheers Chris

You can also bet that petrol will be continually going up in price, where diesel seems to be more stable in cost, as it does not fluctuate with the pricing cycles. I have also seen the price being equal most of the week, so the difference is just not there naymore, unless you only buy fiel on cheap tuesdays or whatever day it is now. I also have to use 98RON fuel which is always 16c p/l more than ULP, so fuel costs will be better with the CRD.

Who know's which is the right motor, but I knew I would not be happy with the v6 after being in a turbo Territory and the Hemi is thirsty and felt slower than the CRD. As the price was the same as the Hemi, it was a no brainer for me, we do not get the v6 as an option in the overland model. From what I have seen the Hemi in real world city driving is getting 21lt/100km, where the CRD seems to always be under 10lt/100km, this is where we will make back the savings.

AussieWK2, have you received a VIN for your car ? I would be surprised if you will see your car this year as CRD Overlands are very rare and desirable, we have hear of people being told after mark 2012 for cars ordered in the past few weeks. I hope you do get it soon, but ask for the VIN or E number so you know where it is. This site can track based on that info.
Hey Enforcer
Yep, got my VIN and have been advised my CRD Overland is on the Fidelio (Wilhelmsen vessel) which passed through the Panama Canal late last week heading south.

I tested the V6 and Hemi back in May and got into a CRD 2 weeks ago. Wanted to sign with a Brisbane dealer there and then but they had nothing. SO.....I got on to Suttons in Sydney and snapped up one they had just about to leave Detroit.

I own a freight forwarding / logistics company and can track vessels through various shipping lines etc but could not see how to track on this site, I'd be keen to find out

Hey ENFORCER
Sorry for late reply.....

Yep, I have my VIN and E number. I test drove the V6 and Hemi here in Brisbane back in May like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, the V6 was too soft, the Hemi was too hard but when I drove the CRD 2 weeks ago it was Just right!

I've defected from a very faithful petrol 120 Series Prado (don't like the 150 series at all!) so I'm looking forward to the change and the CRD.

When the Brisbane dealers were selling a December wait I simply called a Sydney dealer, found what I wanted and signed on the dotted line. It's presently on the Fidelio and past through the Panama Canal last weekend, ETA is late August.

I guess it was a case of being in the right place at the right time. I read the posts of fellow Jeep buyers of extensive delays and cannot understand why Jeep are push the ads so hard but cannot supply. Australia is low on the Jeep food chain but it's still a thriving market and needs a little more respect.

I own a freight forwarding / logistics company and can track all our freight on various shipping lines. I am curious to know where on this site I can track my GC based on VIN and E numbers.

I to traded my 120 series prado, did 350k in it, no problems, on my jeep... The 150 series prado's look like white goods on wheels, very bland and not very different to drive to the previous model... The GC will be well worth waiting for, heaps of features and feels like a full blown sports car on the road compared to the prado.... not so sure off road yet, to me the 4wd system seems to be working pretty hard when the going tough, lots of peculiar noises from the ABS ect... Although I've only been stuck once so far, and that was probably more my fault than the cars...The vehicle tracking this site can provide is awesome.

I just can't see the value in the new 150 Series, now a 7 seater down from 8 and less luggage room in the back. Don't get me wrong Toyota make a fine machine though I think they've lost the plot on this one. Not to mention the $90k price tag for a Kakadu - seems they're getting a little arrogant. I agree, it has a hideous look about it.

Very keen to get into this yank tank...

You sound like you're enjoying yours offroad!
