I called and spoke to my contact at Jeep Oz who said that she now had a copy.

Well done.

Unfortunately I am with Bigpond who I think only have a 10mb email size limit.

Oh well, just will have to wait until it is up at Wk2jeep.com

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just read that the CRD has 9.5l of oil.
That is one HUGE sump
The oil they recommend is:
Use SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Low Ash Engine Oil, meeting the requirements of Chrysler Material
Standard MS-11106 and approved to MB 229.31 or MB 229.51 and ACEA C3.

Another interesting point is there is no mention of driving styles or recommendations. Only that you should let the car idle for a few seconds before shutting down to help lubricate the turbo. I guess they either do not need to worry about the DFP system or are ignoring it as a problem.

Thoughts on Jeep releasing 2WD models down here for the first time?

9.5 l of oil is huge.

What I don't quite get is why the servicing intervals in Australia is 10,000k while in the UK it is 12,000 miles or about 19,000kms. It appears that Jeep have deemed Australia a servere service environment. I would have thought that with such a large oil capacity that this would push out the service inteval.

Maybe it has something to do with the crap quality diesel that we have here in Australia? Then again I thought that Mercedes and BMW diesels were 20k service intervals. Maybe I was wrong.

Looks like Penrite Enviro Plus 5W-30 meets this spec as it meets MB 229.31, MB 229.51 and engines equipped with a DPF.

Diesels always have large capacity sumps compared to equivelant size petrol engines.
They're dirty engines internally, and need more oil to extend the service life. The oil cleans inside the engine with detergents.

Eg, the 5.9 litre Cummins diesels in my boat hold 24 litres each. And I change it at 100hrs, equiv to around 10,000klm.

Diesels usually have shorter service intervals than petrol. Not sure why the Brits are equivalent to 19k, 10k seems too short though. Maybe just another way to shake a few more dollars out of us at shorter intervals?

I checked and yes I am wrong. GC CRD UK is 10,000kms. I must have been thinking of something else. Apologies for the confusion.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Swampy on the UK brochure it does say 12,000 miles, so the info is inaccurate and confusing from jeep

BTW Swampy.....

How did you get on with the Deep Cherry Red? I may have missed the thread you started some time back. Is Cherry Red an option for OZ? I know it's not on current offerings for us down here.

I got the Inferno Red (my first choice was Charcoal but none available) so I quickly snapped up an Inferno Red last month, given the colour we're planning to get it vehicle wrapped it in a new national brand we're just about to launch, the red fits in quite well, Cherry Red may have suited a little better but you're never sure of these things until you see them in the flesh.
