Re: WK2 DownUnder

Ok. Time for one of those questions that most people may know but I don't.

When checking my paperwork today re the discussion on towbars earlier today, I noticed that I had ticked the option for "Premium paint".

It's one of those things that I was going to ask the dealer what is it, but never asked, and the option stayed ticked.

So is it an extra clear coat on the paint, or, (I hope not) simply some overpriced $50 bottle of of paint protection that looks like crap within a few years?

It was a $900 option (from memory, my paperwork is at the office and now I'm home) so hopefully it was worth getting.

premium paint.
All metalics, and pearl coats.
Only solid paints are not premium. Stone White, I think is the only solid paint.

I was not charged the premium paint, it was crossed of the contract $750.

I was told yesterday you could not order QL on a Laredo.

Hence my post somewhere about the lack of ARB gear for the WK2. If I buy a Laredo I have to be convinced it can carry the load (fridge, water, extra fuel, extra spare etc) offroad on standard suspension, which seems highly unlikely?

Cheers

Re: WK2 DownUnder

If you plan to do a regular amount of off-road, I would not get QL as it limits your options for lift and shocks. I would also not trust its durability over a long off-road trip.
As for the ARB stuff, you may offer your car as a tester for them to make some gear. I do not know if I would be putting my car through a river that needed a snorkel, as there is way too many electronics that will get stuffed by a deep crossing, ingestion of water would be the least of my concerns.

What colour is yours deserthucker? I think the White Gold clear coat is also not a premium paint.

Thanks for that and I suppose that makes sense.

I would of expected that if I was ordering the overland that premium paint would be a no cost option.

No issue though, thanks.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Does the Overland come with ventilated front seats like the USA model as I cannot see it listed in the specs on the Jeep web site

Also took the CRD for a test drive this morning . compared to the V8 there's nothing in , Fuel economy is swaying me to the CRD, Nice and quite and plenty of grunt , did have the Diesel rattle just as i accelerated but just for a split second.
Just waiting for a sharp price

Hi, I don't disagree with your comments about lift and shocks if they are going to be available and I too am nervous about the durability of QL. I have always used ARB but the local shop, which is direct ARB, not a distributer, assures me they have no intention of doing anything for the WK2. May support my current thought about waiting for the 2013 build in the hope of picking up the 8 speed. Suspension bits may be available by then?

Also agree regarding water height. I don't like water much! The air pickup of the WK2 is in a nice high spot anyway. The electronics should be able to take a bath but my experience with other makes suggests you are asking for trouble - I had no end of issues with my R51 Pathfinder after 50kms of deep bogs in WA last year, but it was ok once dried out.

Cheers

Jim

Re: WK2 DownUnder

For anyone interested..............

As mentioned by a previous poster to this thread there is a 6 week old Jeep dealership here in Brisbane, Salters, on the magic mile in Moorooka.

They presently have 3 x Limited's and 1 x Laraedo with various specs in their yard waiting for buyers! 1 x white, 1 x charcoal, 1 x silver and not sure of the forth. Salesman John Hearn 0435 277 957.

May be of interest for those on the market but daunted by the protracted delivery time.

I popped in there to refresh my memory but truth be known just to get a quick Jeep fix!

Cheers

Ok a device used with Mygig radios so you can enter GPS while in motion.
Watch video in motion.
Gives additional outputs ie video for back seats.
Extra camera inputs.
Opens locked features of you radio.

I will use one to monitor my trailer while driving.
And thinking of installing a camera inside the trailer as well.
OK, got it. My Prado would not allow me to GPS whilst in motion which I have to admit whilst it was annoying at times, it makes sense not to be playing with settings in motion.

Having said that, how do you get it?

Yup the overland does have the ventilated seats. It's a fantastic feature.
