Re: WK2 DownUnder

The CRD is faster than the hemi by nearly 0.5 sec 0-100km/h and it feels faster than that. It has everything the Hemi has, like the HD brakes and towing capacity. My wife is also a lead foot, loved the muted sound of a v8, but thought the CRD was way faster.

Found new ad for the CRD from their Morton Island jaunt

Re: WK2 DownUnder

We are so looking forward to this vehicle when it arrives.

Just a question for those that have had their JGC's delivered, from an order and not yard stock.

How many Kms were on the clock when you were handed the keys?

I would be expecting around the 10km.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I would expect under 20, as there is a lot of moving the car from trucks, trains and ships. Also if yours has been selected for QC, then there may be more km on it.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

So 10-20ks would seem about reasonable for an imported car.

Cheers

Nice ad, have been a bit worried the inferno may have been a little too close to fire engine red but alas, I'm reassured, inferno looks great.

I wonder how many "takes" they took with that unit in the drink? I did that once with a Patrol I had and regretted it, not only does the metal weep with rust but all aluminum components were permanently scaled. Resale for a Patrol was bad enough, the cheap thrill was like rubbing salt into the wound! I stay well away from the drink when beach driving, it just ain't worth it.....

Given it was shot on Moreton I'd say that CRD will be coming to a Brisbane dealership - buyer beware!

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Lol it has Victorian plates on it, so it will most likely be used as a corporate car, then flogged off once people forget the ad and before it rusts.
I agree about the inferno Red, it looks great. My kids watched the ads last night and they wanted the red. That Potbelleez song is very likable, great choice for their ads.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

A diesel question.

Having never owned a diesel road car before and with the JGC CRD on order, my question is how sensitive are these latest diesel engines to the supplier or brand of diesel?

Near where we live we have a "Peak" fuel station that is now owned by "Gull".

While I am not 100% certain, I'm pretty sure that they import their fuel although still being low sulpher fuel.

Our other option would be from a BP fuel station however that is further away and would generally be inconvenient to use as it is not usually on our way home.

We do notice that at the BP the diesel is usually 10c a litre more than then unleaded where the "Peak" diesel is usually the same price as unleaded and about 10c a litre cheaper than the BP Diesel.

So with these new high pressure injectors on the new diesels, can the diesel supply effect the injection systems over time (ie gum up the injectors) or is it generally not an issue?

The last time I would have driven a diesel would have been a Fordson Major tractor on Dad's farm some 27 years ago so as you can guess, its all new to me.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I would think that most Diesel will be of similar quality, however Caltex have a new Vortex Diesel they say it keeps the fuel system clean. As I will only be filling up once a month, I will most likely use the Vortex.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I was wondering if this red shown in the ad was the new Deep Cherry Red as the Inferno has not been available since the release of the diesel....has it????
