I am getting the wife a Nissan Elgrand 8 seater for the kids to trash and I am getting the Jeep. I will no longer own a FPV/Ford in the very near future. My FPV is currently getting all the minor scrapes fixed, ready for sale. Looking forward to not have the kids trashing the Jeep and using it as my daily drive.

It is pointless having a nice car when the 3 kids under 7 just treat it like a playground/sandpit/mcdonalds/bed/toilet/etc.
For $25k I get an 8 seater that can be abused without me caring much for it.

I have not seen any light that would indicate this.
From my understanding the DFP is right up near the turbo and does not need to cycle like the older cars. The DFP runs hot due to its location and is always burning off the soot.
The older systems were further down the exhaust like a Catalytic converter and needed the car to over inject fuel causing a heating of the DFP to burn off the soot.
I am not 100% on this, as the info is not easy to find, but this is my understanding of the process in our CRD's.

I admit that I don't know, however I do suspect that the DPF still cycles.

Sometimes, even on a cold night, when my wife backs into the garage the cooling fan is roaring, the car smells quite hot and also smells a bit like burnt diesel fumes. You can even see some smoke in the headlights, yet the temperature gauge inside appears about normal. I have always taken this as when the DPF is in the middle of a burn off.

A certain white 3.0CRD (SWIM) allegedly took on a V8 Falcon this morning from standing start. He allegedly bottled it at 120kmh when he realized he was not pulling away. This car is AWESOME:cool:

I hear Ya!! :D 0-100kmh he was about a second in front passing the CRD at around 60kmh but after that could not pull away:D. Wonder what he thought when he read the CRD badge  Then it was 6.00am so I switched off the PS3 and left for work.

Thanks everyone for the input on front recovery hook for my Overland 2012.
The one that came with the Overland is only for minor road recovery as in the States. I will be having one fitted before heading up the beach.

A further question I have is I cannot see any tow / Haul switches on my Overland and cannot find anything in the manual other than stating if equipped.

Is the air suspension the reason there is now tow /haul switches in the dash.

If anyone has a 2012 Overland can you let me know if these switched are in your model or is deleted.

Regards
Strategy

looks good ... we're heading up that way in mid september with my brother's family and his kluger

the first pic immediately reminded me of the mask that anthony hopkins wears in silence of the lambs. i have no idea why i thought of that first.

where did you get the car bra from, and how much, if you dont mind me asking?

How can one follow on from that...

Anyway, finally got the car on Monday - Maximum Steel Overland CRD. Will post pics soon - having too much fun driving it.:) Friday's the time for the install of the recovery hook and skid plates (that I've had for months) then on to the rock rails...
