Wish I had the ventilated seats. Sick of the gf whining about the hot seats after being parked up for 10mins in the sunny NT. Although if I had them she'd be sure to spill some sticky drink into the perforated leather and it would never be the same again.

Good news, towbar and cargo barrier finally installed. Funny story, but it'll have to wait, off to dinner. Mmmmm, Thai food.

Studgun - which cargo barrier did you get? Are you happy with they way it is fitted? I'm concerned about holes being drilled into the trim. Do you have any photos?

Can you still slightly recline the rear seats with the Milford installed? Cheers.

There are 4 holes made and threaded inserts added, but they're pretty inconspicuous and I'm not really fussed. It keeps the dogs in the boot so I'm happy.

Ok, so the story. After ordering the parts months ago, and one previous attempt to fit the towbar which turned out to be the wrong part, I was assured it was all there.

I turned up Friday morning to get it all fitted before heading home thAt afternoon, and was told only the cargo barrier was there. I was not happy but told them to go ahead and fit that and we'd sort out the towbar and steps another time, and at a discount.

Back to the hotel for a swim and several hours later, at about 2PM, I go back to get the car.

As I'm standing at the counter, in walks a courier carrying a towbar. Lo and behold it's mine. I asked if they could fit it that day and they said they'd get it done.

Finally picked up the car at close to 5, and without enough time to drive home we stayed another night in Alice, but I'm glad we did because we ate at Hanuman and it was quite possibly the best food I've ever had.

Dam!! I was hoping to take your ski off your hands if you had no towbar over Xmas.

Happy New Year All.

Looking to get my hands on a CRD Laredo with QL, towbar, off-road pack. Was hoping the generous people here in this thread wouldn't mind posting some of the prices they paid for their GC so i can have a reasonable figure to work with when going into the dealer (have a tendancy to get ripped off). Been going through as many of the posts here looking for prices but not sure i will be able to get through them all by the time i hit the dealers tomorrow.

Specs don't have to be the same as mentioned (missus is still keen on an Overland, but QL and Diesel is a must for us). Appreciate any info you guys can share. Cheers.

My advice is get as much factory fitted suff as you need but avoid any dealer fitted or dealer supplied items. QL and off-road pack is factory fitted therefore good. Tow bar is dealer fitted therefore not so good. Most things you can import from the States much quicker and much cheaper than you can get them from the dealers. If things were equal we would always support the local bloke but they aren't by a long shot and we are not charities. If you are mechanically handy or your mate is a mechanic, stay away from the dealers. They time their mechanics. If they don't have the time to do it right, too bad for you. Unfortunately tow bars for Australian Jeeps are specially made in NZ and can be bought only through dealers but you can fit it yourself. Alternatively you can get a Hayman-Reese dealer to fit one of their bars.

Yeah that was the plan initially, have been following that thread quite religiously but decided the upgrades weren't enough to compensate for the unusual facelift on the MY14. I know its still early days and there arent yet any official pics that show it in a better perspective but still not that keen on the design. Doesn't quite grab you like the current model does.

+1 it should be free. (Mine was). Your dealer should have mentioned this when you bought it. Not sure if you take it to a different service centre - if they are going to charge you, I'd leave it. I don't believe it is part of the scheduled servicing someone might be able to confirm that.

The sales rep didn't mention anything about the 1K service at all. It wasn't until i was browsing the forums that I actually found out that 1K service was to be done.

The service manager mentioned that 1K service requires oil and filter change. I am thinking this car is less than 2 months old, why would it require the oil and filter change at 1K??? Did anyone have oil and filter change at 1K?

#2,655 ·
They don't specify an oil and filter change at 1k - its a freebie from the selling dealer and generally only a pat on the bonnet, unless you have some little niggles you have found that need a pat too.
Some dealers don't offer it at all.
If you don't have any issues that require taking it back - don't worry about it.
And the price of $280 you were quoted for a service - if that included the oil and filter then it is a BIG bargain (in Australia). I'd be checking what oil was included and if it was a full synthetic that complies with Chrysler spec.

My dealer advised 1k check not needed. See me at 10k. Had no problems.

Great info, and love that we're seeing a few of these type of news clips now. Not concerned that volume will drive resale value down as the fuel economy and maintenance free records will speak for themselves.
Just wish more of the aftermarket suppliers would take notice and step up into to the game.

I'm probably somewhat ok as I plan to keep my CRD for 10years and am setting it up to tour, (same as my last KJ), so I will have time to add on bits over this time.
Just feel sorry for the lease owners as I think by the time the aftermarket guys realise the market potential, your lease will nearly be up:-(
