Great to hear you love the charcoal as I wanted it all along and then when I signed up I suddenly thought did I choose the right color. Not sure who you dealt with but I found Stuart absolutely fantastic there, he helped me all the way through the process without any pressure at any stage.

Wardy give it time.
Last year after flying to Sydney, got into the hire car fired up my Tom Tom 720 put my hotel into it, 5000Km+ to destination.
Half hour of driving and then on the side of the road for nearly an hour before it started working properly.
On return via Brisbane I set my home location to Brisbane it locked in within minutes.
And onto Perth done the same thing changed location locked in within a minute.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

One your dealer should know.
Or watch the port of Baltimore keep an eye on the ships coming and going.
When your status changes to loaded check all of them here.
http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSched...v%21-262142157 untill you find the one going to Oz
The loading and departure dates can be a little ambiguous so check days before and after.

Thanks I will ask next week but I think I have tracked it down to one of the following.
Tarago- left Baltimore 27/8/11 arrives in Melbourne 1/10/11 or
Tiger- left Baltimore 30/8/11 arrives in Melbourne 1/10/11

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Gday Aussie Overland CRD owners

As per my question in this thread, which has been moved to the Engine Performance/Intakes/Exhausts forum, I have a quick question for those with a 2011 JGC diesel Overland in Australia

Would you be able to tell me what RPM your V6 diesel is doing at 100 and 110kmh?

The reason for the question is I would like to know what effect the 3.45 axle ratio has on the overall ratio and rpm

For example my 2.8L 4 cylinder CRD Cherokee using the 545RFE gearbox indicates about 1900 rpm at 100kmh, 2100rpm at 110kmh, etc

According to my local dealer there aren't any Overlands or offroad adventure pack equipped diesels here to test drive

I'm hoping the V6 3.0L diesel in the Overland (using the Mercedes W5A580 gearbox and 3.45 axle ratio) will be reving less than my current KJ Cherokee, as the V6 has a lot more torque and would be more suited to tall gearing when cruising

Anyone have any figures?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

You don't want too low rpm for a diesel it will start to labour and use more fuel.
They are not big thumping truck engines that labour away, more small higher revving.
Still need to find that sweet spot.
Most older trucks work around the 1750-1850 mark. I would think these JGC CRD's would be more like 1900-2200 mark

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Thanks Deserthucker and Enforcer,

The powerband of the 3.0L VM Motori engine is from 1,800 - 4,000 rpm, from the Jeep website

I think I've worked out the speed/1000RPM in top gear, based on this website:
http://www.automobile-catalog.com/auta_details1.php

This site shows that a 2011, V6 with the Mercedes-Benz 5G-Tronic W5A580 gearbox has a speed per 1000rpm of 57.3 (km/h) in 5th gear with the standard 3.06 axle ratio

The Wheel circumference from that would be 2.43m

Plugging in the 3.45 ratio instead of 3.06 I got a speed per 1000rpm of 50.82 km/h in 5th gear

So RPM at:
100 km/h should = 1970 RPM,
110 km/h = 2160 RPM,
120 km/h = 2360rpm,
130 km/h = 2560
as long as the wheel size is consistent between the specs and my calculations are not off

So thanks for your input, looks like the speed per 1000 RPM of the Overland Diesel is not bad and pretty close anyway to my KJ 2.8L CRD Cherokee

Now to see what price I can get for an Overland

Did anyone order window tints for the driver and passenger windows?
