Re: WK2 DownUnder

Hi, I really want to chase this down as well.

I redid the numbers based on 265x60x18 wheels, a 0.83 overdrive on the 5 speed auto and the three diff ratio possibilities:

. If the diff is 3.73 - 47 kph/1000 revs, so 2,128 revs for 100kph

. 3.45 - 51 kph/1000 revs - 1,960 revs

. 3.06 - 57.5 - 1,739 revs

Not quite the same as the numbers quoted on the other thread but should be close although the real rolling circumference of the tyres can make a bit of difference.

We should now be able to tell which diff is standard after ENFORCER reports back.

The car I test drove seemed to be around 2000 revs for 100kph so it is likely that the 3.45 diff is standard with the CRD here (although it could be 3.73 if there was a lot of speedo error).

The higher the gearing the better in my view. My Peugeot diesel is 55kph/1000 and as long as you don't let it labour too much the low revs really help economy.

Cheers

Jim

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Yes let's hear back from Enforcer

Seems to be some evidence mounting about what you put forward Jim, that the diesel even in an otherwise standard Limited and perhaps also Laredo gets the axle ratio of 3.45*

Interesting since usually*the 3.45 axle ratio is bundled with the ELSD

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Enforcer, you got your build sheet?
Have a look at you axle ratio, it will answer some of these guys questions.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

ok the above is correct.
100km/h = just about 2,000rpm and 110km/h was around 2200rpm
this was as best as I could get on the road
My build sheet also says DLKP 3.45 Rear Axle Ratio

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Checked the build sheets on my Laredo CRD and the diff ratio (DMGP) is 3.47 ....
Have had the car now for little under 2 weeks averaging just over 10 L/100Klms in city driving, haven't been able to fault it yet a really great car to drive anyone who is still waiting for their CRD (Laredo, Limited or Overland) will not be disappointed it was well worth the 114 day waiting period.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I took my Garmin portable sat nav with me for a drive and the speedo is reading (digital display) 103kph when the Garmin is showing 100kph. The Tacho is sitting almost exactly on 2000rpm. The available torque at 2000rpm is far greater than our previous 2008 WH Overland CRD - this new one is very happy towing our 2500kg van in 5th, whereas the WH was far happier using 4th.

This is on an Overland CRD fitted with standard 265/50/20 Kumho rubber.

Cheers Chris

Avg 10/100 - that's reassuring! Will do even better as the engine settles and you hit some open roads!

Mine is due today off the back of a Sydney car carrier, rental being returned!

114 days.....someone needs to keep a tally of the longest wait with Jeep throwing in a tank of fuel for the winner!
