I got mine the other day, freaked me out.
I was trying to think how the hell they got my address as their is no way in hell I would have entered my personal details on this type of site.
Then realised I paid with PayPal and they show your details.

A quick run from Sydney to Armidale today, via thunderbolts highway. A trip we have done many times over the last 20 years to visit family.

The ease of overtaking and power for the mountain is something that is really addictive and i never get tired of.

Averaged 8.4l/100, not hanging around.

And back....

8.2l/100 for the trip as I drove back into my driveway.

The brakes got a bit spongie at the bottom of the hill towards Barrington. Sometimes I forget I'm pulling up a couple of tonnes. They were still a bit soft when I got home. Hopefully they will come good tomorrow and I havnt cooked the fluid or glazed up the discs or something.

And a photo.

The Gostwyck Chapel east of Uralla, a little too late for the autumn leaves.

Finally got around to (or convinced the boss it was necessary) to upgrade the wheel tyre package on our 2012 Overland CRD.

Have fitted 285/50/20 Nexen tyres to 20x9 p20 offset 6 spoke alloys. Slight increase in rolling circumference has the speedometer reading exactly the same as the GPS speed reading.

NOICE:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: Let us know how you go with grip, noise and wear Mate, Impressed with the offsets

Ride quality is better and road noise is noticeably less than the poxy Kumhos that were OE 29000km and they are down to the warning strips. The new tyres are only NZ$250 each and the tyre shop bloke said I should easily get 50,000km from them.

The alloys came with blank centres and had the centre boss machined to get the + 20p offset and the stud pattern (127x5) drilled. Very happy with the result.

Cheers Chris

Alright, finally got my second recovery hook sorted.
Very nice.

I take it that this is a RHS modified / welded to fit the LHS?

No specs. Just gave the standard bracket to a bloke I know from work, and he measured it and made up the opposite. Fitted it up today to make sure it was all good, but I need to take it off again and paint it otherwise it's going to rust.

I still have the original bracket if anyone wants one to work with. You'll have to come up with your own hook though.

Painted the bracket and it looks just like a bought one. Made a last minute decision to follow the suit of the Trailhawk and ARB's new line of recovery points and make my hooks red.

On night shift now so I'll get it all fitted up again in the morning. Getting good at putting them on now.

Wow! Now for some ambient LED lighting behind the hooks... to help find them in the dark of course.:)

And it looks like all those new MY14 owners will need Studguns mod too. I wrote to one of our tame dealers a few days ago again asking about the recovery hooks - but a few days now and no reply.

I think I also mentioned that I followed up a couple of contacts in jeep hq who have been reliable in the past - you guessed it. No reply.

I'd love to see a photo of hooks on an MY14 and be proved wrong. I'm still skeptical.

Hoping to have a shot at the tow hooks on Monday 5th August. Hoping to pick up my Overland on Tuesday. Have ordered the tow hooks from Just for Jeeps and will be picking them up in Hawaii next Thursday. As soon as I have a go at it I will let you know either way.

So there you go, one and a half weeks and you will have an answer, unless someone else beats me too it :)

I copied this photo off the Jeep Australia web brochure New 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee - The Ultimate Search Engine and enhanced it to bring out the bumper detail. It definitely shows two front recovery hooks. Of course, this is no guarantee that what lands will be the same but it will give you something to argue over.

Make no mistake, I want to be proved wrong on this.
