I'll obviously get a 2012 model and I just read in this forum that (for US) Quadra-Drive II (and with it the ELSD) is not included any longer with the Overlander V8, only if you also have the Off-Road package.

I'm wondering if there is a similar change for Aus on the cards. Dealer knows nothing...

Anyone have a build sheet for a 2012 Overland CRD and can comment on this?

Thanks
Peter
If the US summit has it, most likely the Au overland will have it.
Our Overland is more like the US summit.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

My windows have auto down and up on both front windows

My mirrors only fold with the press of a button. I seem to remember reading that if they are folded in, they will come out at the 26km/h or whatever the doors lock at, but that could have been from another car I cannot be sure.

We do not use the folding mirrors yet as we do not park anywhere it would be needed.

Read the manual and learn how to set the individual key setting. It needs to be turned on in the EVIC and you need to follow the procedure in the manual.

Great to see some more GC's on the road.[/QUOTE]
Well there's a new toy to play with.....I didn't know the mirrors folded in! Flicked the switch a few time on the way home from work yesterday, cool.

This reminded me, prior to deciding on the WK2, I read all the reviews and watch a few youtube demos, 1 in particular had a guy starting his engine with his remote key whilst standing outside the car.

Very dumb question (and I haven't read the manual on this yet), can we remote start our engines?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

We do not have the button on our remotes to remote start.
I may take it up as a project. I figure that all we need is the correct key fob ($250) and they will need to turn it on the ECU. I will speak to the service guys to see if they will enable it for me.
It is illegal to have remote start, as you are not allowed to leave a car unattended while running....welcome to the nanny country.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

There's no difference to jumping in, starting and jumping out again, the result is the same - car running unattended.

Not sure how the remote works in the US but I would think the FOB would need to be in say a 10m radius from the car for it to activate and if you moved out of the 10m it would cycle the engine down, switch off and lock itself (just guessing).

If the car has that capability / technology then it should be available and used.

I noticed in another thread the yanks had a flipper glass opener on their fobs on the earlier WK2's but it's no longer available (some have said all they did was ordered replacement fobs with the flipper butter and it worked)

You will also require a new WIN module, electrically activated bonnet lock and remote start arial.

The new WIN module requires online authorisation from Jeep in the US before it will work.

They say it is good for 800ft (240m) although that would have to be line of sight.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Has anyone hitched some serious weight behind their 3.0CRD as yet?
Interested to hear how the car felt under load.

Mines a 2012 Overland and was supposedly built on the 31st of August. I really need to sign up for the Milous Tracking Info to find out more though. My fingers are crossed that it hasn't affected ours otherwise I won't be happy... again. haha

I had around 2200kg and it pulled up the Buladehla mountains with ease...these things have an enormous amount of torque.

I did some research on this back in February.
Asked the dealer service dpt if I brought one from the states (350 for the kit) they would not initialize it.
There is an ADR that prevents remote start in Australia.
Took hours to find it.
Rumors this may change.

Weird thing is my parents' Prius has remote start, to start the a/c and will run for quite a while

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Saw a batch of Jeeps on a carrier today, delivery probably to Parramatta dealer. Looks like a shipment just arrived.
Also noticed a Overland driveaway price of $76-$77k on Discount New Cars.
