Yep, I'm keeping an eye on it, no sign of the clamp being loose. But I am waiting for my first 'problem'..... only done 600kms, so plenty of possibility yet. Still have a big smile on my face driving this thing.

Great to hear you are problem free Benno and really hope it stays that way for you :)

Inspected my new Summit yesterday and everything looks really good
CV boots look to be in place at this point in time and will be taking delivery today after work.

Fingers Crossed for some trouble free driving also :D

So, I got an email from the dealer on Friday saying that my Overland has arrived at the dock and should be available for pick up soon. That would be good except that according to the Wallenius tracking website it is sitting on the boat in the port of East London, South Africa and not due in Fremantle until 21 Jun. So either he is incorrect or he gave me the wrong e Number 4 months ago!

Redldr,

If its a Deep Cherry Red Diesel Overland with Light frost Beige interior and not built between 1 March and 14 April, take it.:thumbsup:

Does sound like a e Number/VIN mix up though.

Whatever the case, hope it is all for the good from your perspective.

Quick, slightly unusual question does anybody else find the clicking noise, from what I guess is the locking mech, in the indicator stalk to be louder than average?

I.e the click when you have your indicator on and turn and I guess a latch or ratchet style device clicks into place then again when you return to centre and the blinker turns off.

I don't notice it, the wife thinks it's infuriating she's dropping it off for a service tomorrow and plans on mentioning it so just thought I'd get a read on other peoples thoughts.

Cheers,
Chris

Not only that, Audi blindfold testers for interior checks, to make sure it all feels nice .

While I'm bleating about switchgear... how did they manage to make the sunroof controls so unintuitive? My girlfriend's Beamer has one switch, and you could successfully operate it while doing a hot lap of the Nuremberg ring... pissed.

Twelve months on and I still have to look up and think about what I need to do to set it how I want :banghead:

End rant,
Steve

After picking up the Jeep on Friday, I did close to 500 kms in the last few days and so far no issues with the CV boots. Been checking religiously every evening. Drives like a dream.

hopefully they will continue to run like that ..

GCnewbie, I am heading over to your side of town (assuming you're in the west point cook area) sometime next week. i'll pm you my number.. will be good to put a face to a username :)

Hey Mate
Looks like you will be about a week ahead of my Grand. With the recent posts on the camera I am wondering about approaching the dealer to see if I can upgrade it before its fitted.
Hope they got the colour wright on our cars this time.
Cheers:thumbsup:

Hmmm, this is a long list, but some of it isn't exactly end of the world stuff, is it?

Here’s a list of what has gone wrong with the car according to Mr Wood:
* Fuel Line fell off (at the time of getting handover in the showroom!)
* Loss of all climate controls (twice)
* Rattling in drivers door,
* Clock couldn’t keep the correct time (for two years)
* Bash plate hanging off
* Turbo inlet manifold cracked (tow truck required)
* Rain sensor failed
* Major coolant leak inside vehicle (tow truck required)
* External mirrors getting loose all the time (it has special screws so Mr Wood can’t tighten them)
* Ignition failure (tow truck required)
* Faulty seat belt tensioner,
* Heater exchange cracked behind dashboard,
* Starter motor intermittently running after the engine has started (has been replaced but keeps doing it)
* Drivetrain Control error (tow truck required)
* Wipers intermittently coming on when driving in dry conditions
* Rear strut leaking oil and had to be replaced ...

I do have a vested interest in that I own a Jeep and would really like JA to improve both their customer service and parts availability. Don't you? I think a little bit of negative publicity might help motivate them to improve their S@#T service and support.

As for the guy with the website, I don't know him from a bar of soap. Frankly he seems mentally deficient given his behavior, however if it prompts Jeep Australia to actually start offering decent customer service and even dare I say it, comply with Federal consumer law than I'm happy to publicize this guys idiocy.

I do feel sorry for the guy and it is very very frustrating when you buy a lemon.
But can I point out his Jeep is KK model Jeep Cherokee discontinued I believe in 2011 NOT a current model Grand Cherokee.

Cheers

Picked my new Summit up last Friday afternoon, unfortunately it has sat in the carport for the last week waiting for the Larkin custom number plate mounts to arrive.
Mounts arrived last night, I am completely happy with the way that the number plates are now fitted :D.

Anyway with number plates now fitted, I finally got to take the Summit for a little spin around the block only to get a "SERVICE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM IMMEDIATELY" message appear

Into John Hughes today only to be told that the control module needs replacing and it will be a 5 - 7 week wait for one to be shipped over from the states!

Not a happy Jeep owner :(

Are you going to accept this??

Have you contacted JA - maybe they can take the module off another one of their cars while waiting for a replacement from the states.

At this point in time I just put the phone down after they offered me a Mitsubishi Lancer as a loan car while I am waiting.
Will take some deep breaths, calm down a little and will talk to the salesman tomorrow morning, unfortunately it was his day off today.

After being messed around the best part of the day, I knew that I was not going to be capable of listening to more of the excuses to why it was not picked up in Pre-Delivery or why there are no stocks kept in Australia - Without loosing my temper

#3,458 ·
That's disappointing to say the least Mark.

One thing I believe none of us were truly aware of when buying our Jeeps is that Jeep Australia would keep no stock of parts at all. Worse still is that irrespective of the situation, they seem unable to make good of this disgraceful state by air freighting parts when it's clearly the right thing to do.

Mate tell Hughes to transfer your money back and that you'll pay for your new car when it's a functional unit.

Cheers,
Steve

Mark I don't think that anyone has received one of those textbook "lemons" where everything goes wrong. It's highly likely that this is your one bitter pill and once you get through it you'll have smooth sailing.

Try not to make more of it than it is... not that I'm playing it down or anything!

Cheers,
Steve

I hear you Steve, at the moment I am more angry at my self for taking the car last week!
I raised it to climb under to look at the CV Boots but it would not lower back down
Day later the Salesman complained that it was raised and did not lower until it went into Areo after he was on the highway on the way to put fuel in it
Gave trouble when I picked it up but I did not understand the system, the yard was flat out with other pick ups
So stupid me drove it home with the gut feeling something was wrong

Secondly I am pissed with both Jeep Australia for not having parts stocked locally and also John Hughes for not picking it up in their Pre-Delivery test they allegedly did, because it now clear there was an existing issue not something that has failed after delivery
