New Vehicle Tracking in Transit
If you are waiting on a new car and want to track its progress to Australia you can do so by using the links below.

First of all you need the VIN of your car, so depending on your relationship with your dealer you might have to play nice, haha. Once you have the VIN you simply copy and paste the full 17 characters into the "Cargo ID" field on the Wallenius Wilhemsen (WW) tracking site.

Generally speaking, the car won't show up on the tracking site until a few days after it has been built. Once you're in you'll get a rough itinerary of the vessel's voyage, which can be accessed by clicking on the "Voyage Number". You can also do few other nerdy things by going back to the first link (below) and searching by "Bill of Lading" or "Booking Number" - by doing this you should be able to see the VINs of the other cars on the boat (although, usually this will be limited to all cars of the same manufacturer - Volkswagen, Audi etc).

WW tracking:
http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

From the WW site you will also get the name of the boat your car is on. The WW site only updates itself after the vessel has left each stop. So, if you want to keep a closer eye on the boat you should be able to do so using the links below. In my experience they don't always update reliably, but when they do, you can get real time stats and progress, pretty damn cool!

Sege where do you find "Cargo ID" on the web page you provided, I cant tell how to use the VIN as you describe.

Go to their home page http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp and then click on the track & trace section in the bottom right corner. Choose "All Users" then enter your VIN under the "Cargo ID" section then click "Track"

I have not followed up with Jeep au on the Satnav/uconnect manuals as they are the same as the USA an it is easy to use. I will do it once I am back at work next week. Hopefully I can get them for all to enjoy.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just got back from our 1200km road trip.
All I can say is the Jeep is a total joy to drive.
The ACC makes driving so much more relaxed, you do not need to be on guard maintaining a safe braking distance. I was a little sceptical so I was testing the ACC from a setting of 120km/h and letting it adjust to the flow of the traffic. It would happily maintain a safe distance in all speed zones. I only needed to take over under 30km/h.
As for the trip, with a fully loaded car and 3 kids and the wife, we averaged 9.7l/100km. As it was mostly driving in >80km/h in hilly terrain, I am happy with the result. The power for overtaking is excellent.

I also managed to do a lot of off roading at my friends farm. Never been a real off road freak, I was keen to test out how well it went. As it was very wet an muddy, I must admit I was shocked to find that I did not get stuck on anything I did with it. While it was mainly boggy paddocks and the odd rutted out riverbed, the thing just climbed out and never needed a tow. My mate the farmer was dumbstruck by how well it went on 20" road tyres.
So we now have 2000km on it and still love it.
As for a die hard Ford fan, I am so glad I got this over the new Territory as I know I would not have been happy with the Ford.

P.S I ran into another Jeep owner at Dubbo Zoo. Hi to F500, it was nice to meet you, your white GC looks great, hope you had a great holiday and fun at the Zoo, my kids did.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Just had first service [12000km] done, cost $333, they used full syn oil which I was concerned about as it is going to be a high milage vehicle and I want to see how the engine lasts using full synthetic oil, they rotated the wheels etc so I was reasonably happy with the price, also had the extra heat shield kit fitted around the fuel tank, 5hr job apparently, that was a recall thing luckily.... in sydney this weekend so there's another 1200km.... then in 2 weeks we're off through the high country to the Moto GP at Phillip Island, cant wait!

Re: WK2 DownUnder

jefferson,

Thats not a bad price on your service.
How long have you had your jeep now?
and did you know about the recall on the heat shield?

Andy

Yeah, I thought they'd go for the jugular on the service cost, but was reasonable I thought. as it took over a day, 5hrs alone on fuel tank and they sent it to pro align as I wanted wheel alignment checked which as it was, was spot on [oops] didn't charge me for that, they gave us a free loan car for the night and they wash and vacuum your car as well... Terrific... Had the Jeep 3 months now, best thing I've ever driven.... Somehow our Jeep sat around for some 6 months after arriving here so it is quiet an early build and there was a service bulletin on the fuel tank amongst other things that are addressed in later builds, I love my Jeep!
