I would have thought that the MY14, with the 8 speed, as opposed to the MY12 with 5 speed, would be more efficient, and therefore less thirsty.
Mind you, if the 8 speed tends to sit on a higher gear, it could be that it is labouring more, and therefore a fraction thirstier.
Only true way to compare would be the same van, on the same road, with the different models.
A higher van, with more wind resistance would also factor differences.
One shouldn't get too hung up about comparing fuel consumptions. On or off-road driving is as about as far from a controlled environment as one can get. There are too many variables. The big three are:
Form factor - that is, the frontal area of the car, roof-rack and van combination,
Prevailing wind direction, and
Average speed of the trip.
A small variation in any of these will greatly influence fuel consumption. Tyre pressure and driving styles are also factors but of lesser significance. So when Pete(Peter.T) compares his towing experience to Toowoomba with Peter's(pcrraa) trip across the Nullarbor, it's interesting but not too much should be read into the differing fuel consumptions.
It was a recall for the CV boots, clamps not tight then they leaked grease. There is I topic on this forum about it. Dealer was waiting on parts to be available.
I've been blasting around the Western suburbs today, geez this car is a joy to drive, not only the power, but the brakes are such a change to my previous cars, and even the missus' car. It just stops!
I'm up to 3,000kms over 4 months. The school run in the diesel has been getting me about 15l/100km (a 2 min drive in hilly area, ECO off). Longer runs in the suburbs, a little 80kph highway driving, and car parks, etc about 13l/100km. And mixed suburban shops/school run/highway to the coast 9.5l/100kms. Highway tends to be ECO mode, suburbs tends to be a bit of ECO off in hilly areas and when overtaking/merging.
I used Sport mode the other day outrunning an RX8 through hilly roads.....
Yeah, I embarrassed a bloke in an SS Bogan Bus early one morning on Epping Rd. He didn't know about the speed camera on the corner of Wicks Rd until the flashes went off [emoji13][emoji14]
By that time I'd backed off and he was well past me [emoji23]
Some time ago I read where a member had modified the dash switches by adding micro switches behind the panel. Can't find it anywhere so if anyone knows about this I would appreciate any assistance.
Hi Bob.
Thanks mate but yes I was looking for the fiddly version. I want to use the existing switch panel if I can. I would mount some pushbutton switches behind the existing ones and either hard wire from them or use miniature relays for switching.
Goody bag from the states arrived today...yeah! Busy weekend coming.
Lamin-x for tail lights (gunsmoke), rear fogs, headlights and door cups.
Hawk Ceramic pads for the front.
New pedal cover for the emergency brake.
Mopar Cargo Tote
Just finished fitting this up nice quality perfect fit took all of 20min. Adds a nice throaty sound to compliment my exhaust just waiting for the filter bag to arrive somehow got lost in the shipment
Interesting not real sure if im dreaming this but something feels different much different.. it feels so much more responsive but sometimes our minds play these tricks on us, im going to try it back to back with a mates and see. Sure sounds hirn though when you give it the berries
Yes it is.
I will use manual switches mounted behind the push buttons and use these to activate relays.
Not quite sure how yet but will write it up when done. Its a longer term project.
Heres a tip for those stressing on removing there front or rear guards. No need for the fancy plastic rivets. I brought these at the local auto shop, push in reusable trim clips. Now I can remove the front as many times as I like.
