PS saw a red CRD Laredo with QL advertised for $67K on carsales the other day. looks like the 3 month+ wait is worth some serious $$$ in premium...

About the red Laredo in Qld with QL - I enquired about that car back at the end of August when it was for sale for $59,000.

It then jumped to $65,000 and is now $67,000 - but they still have it? I don't know if it is a ploy or they just reckon since current advice says you can't get QL on a Laredo it is worth heaps (why you wouldn't just go for a Limited at 67 grand I don't know).

Cheers

Re: WK2 DownUnder

P.S I ran into another Jeep owner at Dubbo Zoo. Hi to F500, it was nice to meet you, your white GC looks great, hope you had a great holiday and fun at the Zoo, my kids did.[/QUOTE]

Hi Enforcer, nice to meet you too. I went on to outback NSW - White Cliffs with underground accomodation, Mutawintji NP and Broken Hill. On to Kinchega NP I unfortunately hit an emu. After having passed lots of them this one just decided to run (and they are fast) in front of the car at that particular moment when it is too late to stop. See pictures of the damage. The emu got up and ran off!!!

Anyway, I straightened out the bumper, taped it all up and continued my holidays missing a headlight. Apart from this the GC drives very comfortably on all kinds of roads out there and I also happened to get a glimpse of an inferno red GC with bullbar in Wentworth - it looked good and I just wish I had had that emu-protection bar when I needed it a couple of days earlier.

For any potential petrol V6 owners I can add that the engine has more than enough power for swift overtakes of trucks, campervans etc. I actually like the engine-gearbox combination better the more I drive it. However the economy isn't as good as I had hoped. My best run between fills was 535 km at 10.8 l/100km which is good (the EVIC showed 10.3 which is 4.5% off) but on average I get 15 l/100km half city half country driving on ULP. Pure city driving on E10 is close to 20 l/100km.

Back in Sydney I had the insurance look at the car and today they phoned back to tell me that there is NO SPARE PARTS in Australia for my car. They will have to get the parts from overseas and it will take 3 weeks. When Chrysler Australia says 3 it really means 6 (my car was promised in 3 months but it took 6) so I am not at all happy about that. What responsible car company would send cars on the roads without a stock of spare parts? It's not that hard to imagine that somebody will need a new bumper and headlight sooner or later, or what do you think?

Re: WK2 DownUnder

Yeah it was great to meet a fellow owner, but geez sorry to hear about the damage and lack of parts.
That looks like many thousands of dollars damage as it is bar, headlight and some panel damage. Blood big stupid birds, lucky it did not setoff the airbags.
Hopefully Jeep get the parts faster than promised, do you have rental car option on your insurance ?
I made sure I got rental and windscreen options as they will both be needed IMHO.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

That is something you could take up with the ACCC.
When you import an item for sale on the domestic market you are to ensure the supply of readily available spare parts for the life of the product. (there is no clear interpretation of product life).
Looked at importing as a importer/wholesaler a while back, really needed lawyers to do all the paperwork.

Think someone asked about a dog barrier earlier.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

It is not a silly idea, as our local needs are different to the USA/Ca based owners.
I will ask Scott if this is possible to have an Aussies Area just for us to create threads.

Re: WK2 DownUnder

I would like to thank Scott for actioning this so quickly.
We should look at arranging this area so that we have threads about our local needs and products.

Brig,

This thread is basically closed. You now need to look at the individual threads located under ╦xport Grand Cherokee 2011+
