Max Steel all the way!

You sound like I was - They are all good colours. The way i looked at it was another day in a long 3 or 4 months wait so just bit the bullet.

Have you seen winter chill?? just messing with you...

True Blue! The others aint colours.

Just noticed that Jeep appear to have updated the US website with the new colours.
They also have added the 0% interest for 72mths finance option. Sure wish that Oz Jeep would follow suit.
Now... if they got rid of all dealers globally, and only had servicing centres, then we could buy online, in the currency of choice, direct from factory, and pay for additional delivery chgs only. Might even be able to pay via PayPal.
That would remove all these local ripoffs, such as "Premium Paint" and "Premium Price" Might even get it GST free.

Buying the car from a dealer is usually the more pleasant experience. (At least until you signed!) I dread it every time I have to get my car to a "service centre" as there is usually a huge price tag for no/minimal service. But there is plenty of BS you mostly have to pay for as well

Another gripe of mine are the parts prices. How Mopar accessories can quadruple their price if you add a ".au" to the web site is beyond my understanding. After all the shipping from China to Aus should be cheaper than from China to US....

#1,247 ·
For me buying a car not a pleasurable experience, i just feel I am getting robbed, robbed on trade-in and the again on options, but hey their trying to help and you've got the best deal they can give you.. such is life…

The Laredo has got to be the best buy. It comes in under the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) with sufficient room for options. Once you go up in model specs, you are in LCT territory and you pay a third more for those nice to have but don't need bits. Heated steering wheel, you have got to be kidding! Even heated seats, I've driven cars in winter with no heating and my arse was the least cold part of my body. I wanted side steps. That would have pushed me into LCT and the fitted cost plus GST and LCT would have been $2,025. I can buy the side steps from the Aussie Mopar e-store (https://www.mopar.com.au/Pages/Store/Cart.aspx) for $849.06 and fit them myself, no LCT. That's what I'll do as soon as the beast arrives.

I tried out the heated wheel and it got hot, it is a gimmick in our climate.
The vented seats however are unreal, as is the ACC and auto wipers.

Well 246 days later or exactly 8 months since the 18th of March and we "Should" be picking up the Overland tommorow :D Fingers crossed all goes well and the wait has been worth it

Hi OzTJ,

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Does your VIN match the vehicle that you were tracking?

I see yours was built around the time of the supply issue with the steering wheels. I don't recall the solution but you might find it in the attached threads.

http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=28770
http://www.jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=28495

RE quadralift - after reading all the threads - i'd recommend taking it back to the dealer and getting them to check the nitrogen pressure - you might avoid damage to the compressor if you can rectify this asap.

I imagine that after 246 days of reading posts on this forum i'm sure i'm not telling you anything you don't already know but just in case.....

Good luck!

#1,256 ·
As above.
There was a supply issue for the steering wheels
the US guys are getting them replaced as they come available.

Great you got it.

Bummer you got trouble.

It must put your guts up in your throat.

Hi Does anyone know where I can find a build sheet or similar showing the options available for the Laredo, apart from the brochure? In particular are tow packs or trailer prep packs available and what do they add?

The best I get from the dealer is, "We can add a tow bar". Am I expecting to much?

Hello 2011/12 WK2 Grand Cherokee owners, does anyone from down under know of, or seen, or had made a nice sport looking nudge bar for their pride and joy other than the jeep mopar offered one ??

I have seen some great ones on the forum but they seem to be for the older model WK. So I guess my next question is, would a WK nudge bar fit a WK2?

If you take a look at JeepCoop's posts of his front bar you will see why I'm curious.

Rikk.

Yes we get punished for working hard.
As far as I am concerned there is no excuse here for being unemployed.
Here in Kalgoorlie we import all our workers from over seas.
From McDonald's burger flippers to mine managers.
Lazy ones in the city don't want to work in the out back.
33,000 residents I know 450 (out of 700) Filipino's on 457 temporary working visas.
Then the Indians, Africans, Koreans and others. Don't mention the New Zealanders think they count for 50% of Kalg population.
The more you earn the higher the tax percentage.

And that stupid luxury tax.

Luxury car to me is a Merc or a rolls, BMW $100k+
Not a 60k 4WD I use for my work every day.
And want to be safe.
I would have a Laredo with ACC, and all the other safety extras.
So I get penalised for being safer on the road.

Rant over.

Well you certainly know a lot of people;). Over here we do have to bring in workers to do "real" work on farms etc. and similarly some people don't work and are living a good lazy life on welfare. There's always job for those who don't mind to work and gain some self pride about in the process.

I wonder if the similar "poor excuse for a tax program" are in place in the states? I don't think that it would go very far if someone was to bring in a "luxury tax'' over there.

I know that Canada and Australia do copy off each other on some policies. Over here it would not be socialy acceptable to dare call it a luxury tax. No, in Canada you can't really call it that, it would be too close to the truth and people might clue in that it is in reality a poor excuse to free its citizen's of their hard earned cash. So they called it a "green levy" and the Conservative's put it in place (at a time where they did not control majority of the votes) so it was put in place in order to satisfy the "good thinkers" who like being taxed to death in order to gain a good conscience in the process that "they did something for our earth and their grandchildren while a catastrophy was manacing our future". These are poor excuses as cars have never been as clean as the machines we drive in our respective countries, thanks to years of EPA lobbying in the states. These folks just can't be satisfied until we all ride on bicycles.

Over with the rant for me too.....but lets not forget when it's time to do something about it.

I hope you enjoy your Jeep, I don't remember if you have the V8 or the Pentastar. Personally I choose the V6 after trying it, I found it to be very peppy, much less than my previous Avalanche with a 5.3 V8 but le$$ at the pump and the cost of yearly registration (here we also get dinged if we have a gaz guzzler by the provincial government) which is another "luxury" form of taxation.

See you soon here,

#1,265 ·
Got the V8 love it.
Had a GC diesel before this one, we use to get a rebate on registration for a diesel but they removed that a few years ago.

Ironic tonight I just got back from our annual multicultural night.
The Filipino club here keeps track of all the Filipino's and we make a point to meet and greet new Filipino's here that's how I know how many are here.
PS I am aussie wife is Filipino.

Ive seen 55k with (aftermarket) leather, towbar (and paint) mentioned around the place. Discussion I had with a dealer recently was with the items above and a factory roof for 57k (driveway). (Wifes gotta have the 'roof...)

PS: Cant remember delivery period - March?? Had considered tru blue but prob now leaning towards Min Grey - or max steel if available in Aus(?)
