There is actually a White CRD Laredo on that same boat as yours which i was looking at but didnt want white.
No idea what boat i am on, or any details, dealer literally rang up and said "Your car is on a boat, should be here in January" which i see as good because iw as expecting least Feb, or later for True Blue. They originally said May for the True Blue.
Does anyone know what the margin the dealers are working to?
How do I know what a good deal is? Although i might not want to know, it a bit late now :slapfight:
The Laredo is sub $30k in the US and $50k on the road here and iam sure Jeep Australia dont pay reatail for them.
Well one reason for the extra costs, is they have to manufacture them for Right hand drive, which costs them extra.
The extra shipping is also another one
Stupid government taxes
etc etc
As well as cars in general are cheaper in the USA, we always get ripped off, go have a look at luxury car prices, like ferraris, 911s or lambo or anything and you will see what i mean.
As for a good deal, i got mine for $53500 with towbar, metallic paint and bit extra for business rego, so that is doable, now idea how much cheaper you could get one,

What a crock!
Sorry, not having a go at you but Ive been AMAZED to see cars like the monaro/commodore selling in the US for significantly less than here. In the late 14th century the locally made Ford Capri was (something like) 20k here and 13k in the US - AFTER shipping and LHD engineering costs. As you say, they've always been much cheaper there. I understand their market is MUCH bigger but it still does my head in when you see Aus-made car selling for less over there!
Xero,
The dealers are not really going to do much dealing as they have a huge demand and no stock.
I would be more worried about actually getting your hands on one more than getting a good deal. Be happy if you get your car within the next 3 months and you only pay retail.
Anyone else read the November issue of "Overlander" Magazine and the story on air suspension including the new Grand? The Disco 4 also featured.
Ill be honest, I'm quite dissappointed. Although I shouldn't be, because all the early videos of them off-road showed virtually no wheel travel.
Was sorry to see the Disco system so superior in wheel travel.
Yes I too was disappointed with the comparative Jeep performance though I am more interested in simple clearance for touring so I guess its not such an issue. I guess they are completely different system designs as outlined in the article.
Are they simply comparing the Disco 4 to a Jeep with QL? everything else stock?
Mine wont have QL but i will probably get a 2" lift on it at some stage, im thinking this should give me a bit extra clearance for touring and light 4wding
Yeah the do seam scarce... hate to say it but i orderd mine in october an its here, although.... it is a petrol... geting delivered in a week or so as iam getting a Laredo and putting leather on it and someother parts.
Moveing from an X5 so slightly nervous, but looking forward to it..
I'm looking at purchasing a Laredo as well, do you mind telling me how much you paid for Leather? and are you doing it though the dealer or an aftermarket mob?
The cars imported here have most of the tow package as standard (excluding the tow bar) - that is 220amp alternator, heavy duty radiator. Verified this on my build sheet. GC Limited CDR
Mshiranui.. just to let you know, my local dealer uses a normal aftermarket place anyway. They told me if i wanted leather, just go to the place after i get my car.
Maybe have a look at 70th ltd v6 seems to be a few around on carsales,
Drive away $63500, but I reckon should be able to crunch one $60000,Or maybe better, as they won't want to be holding one in 2012. The. 70th comes with most of the fruit,
Sunroof, leather, 20s, and bit of bling, dont forget the free tow bar?
Leather
I purchased the Laredo with cloth seats and did not consider leather ? I have had leather before and found that in summer you tend to sweat more if in shorts. You also have to treat the leather at least once to twice a year to stop it cracking and just like the leather lounge at home they look great for a while but really are not that practical. Hot days you sweat on them. Yes you can have the air on but the leather still does crack after three to four years. My previous tug a STS patrol had leather a 2005 model and was looked after being treated with leather conditioner. I ended fitting seat covers but you cant fit them to the new Grands as they have seat air bags. The cloth seats in the Laredo are a good quality and appear they will wear well. My advice would be to talk to people who have had leather seats before. I think you might be susprised by what they say. Give it some thought.

Had leather in one car for 10 years, 4 other cars for less than that, treated them maybe about two years, they lasted beautifully and looked like new when we traded the cars. Would not have anything but leather, we lived in the bush and experienced plenty of hot weather.
Had leather in my WJ 2003 loved it. Work car done 300k. Just done a $150 repair were I worn a whole in the side getting in and out all the time. Previous cars with cloth only lasted 3 -4 years before needing seat repair.
Got leather in my WK2 love it.
And I am in a reasonably hot area.
Thanks for the responses on the leather. I rang a few places today and it looks like around $2500 for some decent leather seats.
I am really leaning towards the Laredo - because I really don't like the fake wood grain colour in the Limited but like the black colour in the Laredo. I'd love to get the factory Sunroof in the Laredo - but am being told I cannot unless I upgrade to the Limited...
So I'm thinking sunroof is too expensive if I have to upgrade to Limited. So I'm looking at Laredo - with Aftermarket Leather Seats.
For those of you who have or know of the Laredo, may I ask...
1. What is the Standard sound system like in the Laredo? and can I upgrade this by going aftermarket if need be?
2. Can I get aftermarket Parking Sensors that are decent?
Stock sound system sounded ok to me at first listen in the demo cars. There is a thread in the interior forum about a guy upgrading the system. Look for a thread called "dont try this at home" or somthing similar i think.
Why do you want parking sensors if you have the camera? you dont really need sensors really.
As for sunroof, you can get aftermarket sunroofs that look like they come with the car, around the $2k mark i think, fully eletric and integrated etc
Hi All, Great forum with great advice, I am looking at ordering a Laredo shortly but find the position of the foot brake really annoying in my driving position, it rest against my leg and I think it would do nasty things in an accident. My dealer told me that they are working with a local engineer to see if they can get it shifted up and back further out of the way.
Just wondering if anyone has found the park brake position annoying or had it moved?
I am nearly 6' and it is no were near my leg or annoying.
My friend drove the car she is 4' something. With the seat full forward, full up she had no problem. And only 30kg she disappeared in the drivers seat.
when we dropped into a dealership 2 weeks ago we were told that you could now order a roof for the laredo (I think we're after the same car ). didnt ask whether it was the single or double pane unit.
I agree.
I tried to get them to delete the sunroof on my overland since it had to be built but no they said it was not possible.
Can not see why this is so, to me it would be a change in the build schedule to use a blank roof.
35c already can feel the heat through the cloth curtain.
Must agree with you Roonie.
It really is a matter of Price Gouging, and it is not only confined to Jeep.
Unfortunately, while Govt allows it, and the buyers are willing to pay the money asked, it will continue.
Yes. There are additional costs involved for tooling to RHD and shipping, but nowhere near the additional price difference. Mind you, while the Govt is also got their grubby mitts in the jar with their so called taxes, they will not jump in to stop it.
As I stated in an earlier post, if you could buy online from the factory, you would see dramatic drops in the prices locally, as they would be forced to compete.
Just as an example, take a look at Mopar's "ambient lighting kit" It is basically a small wiring loom, with some LED strips. Cant cost more than $10 to ship. In the US it costs around $300. Here in Oz, $800.
I don't like the price spread either but I think you are being a bit unfair. I'm about to sell my commodore. I'll put it on the market for the highest price I can get. I don't care what its intrinsic value is or what someone in another country thinks it's worth. I'm not greedy, that's just how things work. No one is forced to buy. This is not price gouging, it's commerce and it most certainly has nothing to do with the government just the buyer and me.
Looks like I'm going to have a look at the Laredo then. If the Reverse Camera does the job, i'll pop down to the dealers and have a listen to the Sound System.
Now it just depends on how long I have to wait.....I heard April recently which made me fall off my chair. Wait another 2-3 months after that and we are talking a 2013 model with MAYBE an 8 speed transmission... I have no idea if that will be better or worse though..
Current talk around the Dealers in Sydney is "Order now for May 2012 delivery on a CRD Overland"
There appears to be plenty of Laredo's sitting in the driveway's of dealers at the moment.
I know of a Black Hemi Overland which was ordered and cancelled by the buyer, and now residing at a Sydney dealership. Well, it was unsold as of this morning.
Very disappointed to be told by the dealer that I couldn’t order a Laredo 3.0L V6 CRD with Off-road Adventure II without also taking the Quadra-Lift.
B & P
According to the brochure, that wasn't the case for 2011. We don't yet know what they are going to offer in Oz for 2012 but I notice that for 2012 models in the States, they include Quadra-lift with the ORA-II but not with ORA-I. Maybe you should ask for ORA-I.
Was at a dealer today, and they had the new colour boards.
Both of the 2 blues were included, True Blue and Winter Chill.
This particular dealer also has 2 MY12 Hemi Overland's in stock.(not demo's) Both have the DVD entertainmet systems and the shorter sunroof. Colours are white with beige upholstery, and black with black upholstery. The white does stand out with that beige interior.
