Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

Broken Rear Shock mount (makes a noise like the spare is loose or the rear door is not closed properly) waited 2hrs to have this fixed only to be told they ordered the wrong part (This is yet to be fixed)
Thud in steering wheel (waiting for new shaft to arrive and be fitted)
Jeep removed the rubber seal under the bonnet (near Air intake) to fit the bonnet protector (I have since fixed this myself as jeep had no idea what to do)

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

I too have the steering wheel thud, will try to get a new intermediate steering shaft at first service in a month or two.
Does anyone else have a croaking sound from their seat? It sounds like a frog whenever I shift my weight in the seat. Also if the passenger seat is lowered completely and nobody sitting in it the wires/plugs underneath rattles. Those wires are a disgrace anyway - gotta do something about it (being an old electrician).

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

Appears the steering thud is common with a few of us down here.

My park brake indicator light now seems to be working in reverse, it flashed whilst driving and it's off when engaged. Poked my head under the dash to sort out the park brake switch, the only thing I could physically get to is a copper retaining spring of sorts mounted at the rear but it does not seem to be the problem.

Will get Jeep to fix when they work on the steering thud.

Gotta say though, I still enjoy every ride I take in this car, moreso than when I had the Prado120!

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

Finally took delivery yesterday, now 500kms on the clock and on the northern end of Fraser Island... All going well... Two things, Missing trim in drivers door handle, not sure if this is factory or window tinter's fault. Also minus the reversing camera, I believe Laredo's camera's are installed in Australia... No big deal will get fixed when I return with 1,000kms on the clock....

Side note: Quadra lift working perfectly...

Re the park brake saga, you may find that the power lead to the park brake switch has been routed incorrectly and after a number of applications has finally worn through the insulation. This gives you the bells and whistles when you release the brake as it earths on the park brake assembly

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

I think you may be right, every time the park brake is engaged it feels like something is getting in the way, must be at the upper end of the arm, I just can't get to it. I'm just waiting for a chance to get to Jeep.

You'd think the guy on the production line with the sole task to route the wire in the right direction would get it right! Maybe it was more of this on the job than this .

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

Flipper glass? How do you secure it in public?

No doubt these are great cars, I enjoy my time in it each day. It's just a shame these niggling little problems exist. Seems like a lot of 3rd party electronic gadgets are letting Jeep down.

It seems to stay latched when the cars locked, but when its unlocked it does all the weird stuff, and when I want it to open it won't.... Hmm, all the gadgets are great when they're working, and they do make it a great vehicle, but there's an awful lot of them that can go wrong.... but I'll try not to think about that!

Well done and thanks. I found the worn power lead, taped it and re-routed it. And I think I'll share this with the mechanics who could not find the problem.

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

You mean the mechanic who delegated the job to his 1st year apprentice who couldn't find the problem?

Silly question and I know it may be difficult to describe but where exactly is it and much much gear did you have to pull out to find it?

Re: WK2 - Minor Fault Summary

I have the knock in the steering, so in about 5k km ours will be ready for the first service. I think I may do an oil change next week.
