Re: WK2 Offroad

You're probably right, but on the other hand there hasn't been a recent directive released regarding lifts or tyres as far as I'm aware. Also, if you had to go to Licensing after being pinged for it, they might discover some new garage work for you to attend to.

Depends on how you like to roll. These days I do all I can to ensure my days of taking sh!t during a "roadside attitude test" are over.

Cheers,
Steve

Your right Steve. Attitude is 99% of it. I had an instance in my 4" lifted patrol with 35's where once we were coming back from Harvey covered in mud. I always clean my lights and number plate before driving. The cop pulled us over to commend us on cleaning them and that my Simexes looked like awesome tyres with the lift and that is was a nice truck.

Hi they are 265/65r18's and yes, pretty noisy compared to the factory Michelins. It's more noticeable at lower speeds (60kph and below), less so on the open highway.

Overall I do like the tyres though, bought them mainly for the fact the spare fits where it should.

Cheers, Simon

Oh wow, did you do the bash plate yourself? what about the winch, who installed that?
I have the uneek front winch bar with single hoop.

Wanted to show two clips, one is of my jeep heading up a section and the other is my brother in laws Toyota heading up the same section. I dont have the EDiff and he doesnt have a locker.

You can see the difference and he also smashed the stump pretty hard.

The winch bar I got from Rocky Road Outfitters and installed it myself, that includes the mopar recovery hooks. I made the bash plates myself too. Just made some cardboard templates and cut them out with a grinder.

I found myself especially over a lot of the rock ledges that the Jeep would scrap/hit.

Is there a way to lift it higher?
I find mud mode in offroad 1 the best. I only raise to offroad two if I need the extra clearance.

What do you guys do with the Jeep to avoid the scratches from the scrub?

it's hard to avoid the scratches or pin stripping as we call it!
When it get too noticeable just take to a car detailer he will make it look like new again.

Hi there,
When I go offroad what I use is a product from 3M, a spray that you cover the sides and front and leaves something like a plastic cover, I put 2-3 layers, and then when I get back home you just take it out and my GC looks as shiny as ever, no stripes, no dirt, no nothing, for the front its excellent as when you remove it you take off all the insects and bugs, I tried it once and since that day for off road or for long road trips I always have a can in the trunk, you can get it from Amazon, 3M clear cover.
Hope the info helps.
Rgds.
