When it get too noticeable just take to a car detailer he will make it look like new again.
Back in the olden days applying a coat of wax prior to off roading would help reduce the scratches.

Now with the advancements of waxes, get some of the spray on wax and wipe down the sides before your trip. Just give yourself a light coat - 20-30min maybe to do both sides.

This will help the brush slide off instead of digging in and scratching. Now if the brush is heavy there's no avoiding it. If you get really bad ones take it to a detailer as mentioned and have them buff them out.

Re: WK2 Offroad

Is it worth putting TPMS sensors in to wheels used just for offroad? i am wondering if the low pressure alarm is annoying or if it can be disabled?

Re: WK2 Offroad

Far as I've noticed the alarm only goes off when you air down, then it stays quiet.
Personally the main use I get out of TPMS is during air down/up, and they are very handy for that.

Cheers, Simon

WK2 Offroad

I've been looking for a suitable toolbox for my tyre pump for quite a while - it came in a soft bag and I wanted something that provides a bit of protection.

None of the boxes have seemed to be quite the right size - not tall enough, but I managed to find a Tactix plastic box from Bunnings today that is the correct size and fits the air hose and pressure gauges very well. Cost $29 and came with some smaller boxes that nest into the big one.

Happy days!

Re: WK2 Offroad

just got back from another trip to stockton, seems it was jeep city. looked to be maybe sydney jeep club were there jeeps everywhere.
some interesting observations this trip.
select sand mode only and front diff isnt locked in high range, rear wheels spin front dont move
select low range and sand mode locks the front diff in but limits speeds to 40kph, not fast enough to climb dunes
found it ok to climb with a decent run up, however we did find a nice hole on the treeline with only two exits out one straight up the face one winding a little around the dune edge. this sand was the softest i have been in, i couldnt even take off without burying myself eventually used my sand tracks to get up ontop of the sand. it was a funday though with a mates 700hp F250 showing the jeeps how its done lol

Re: WK2 Offroad

My wk2 has no problem digging holes with the front wheels in high range. Low range locks the transfer case but high range still transfers power to the front.

You still have torque transfer to the front, it's just not locked.

Mine definitely has dug in with all four in high range/sand mode.

nicjak what tyre pressure are you running there? Looks to be digging in quite deep.
